Always Have Duct Tape in Your Pocket

Always Have Duct Tape in Your Pocket

Duct tape is an amazing thing. You can pretty much do everything with duct tape that your mind can think of. But sometimes you don't have duct tape with you when you need it most. With this Instructable, you will never have that ever happen to you again!

I will show two ways to always carry duct tape in your pocket. The first method is circular in your pocket and the second is flat, sorta like a credit card.

P.S. This is my first Instructable so please spend a minute to give me feedback. Thanks :-)

First, you need some duct tape. The amount you need depends on how much you want to carry with you in your pocket.

If you are going to do Variation #1, then you need a BIC pen.

If you are going to do Variation #2, then you need a card. Like an old credit or library or some membership card. You could also use those credit cards that you get in the mail that you don't activate.

I shove a wire through the roll in between the cardboard roll and the lowest layer of tape, then make a ring out of that, and put a carabiner on it. Belt-carryable!

Or you could just remove the paper core, flatten it out and stick in your back pocket.

I added something to variation #1, put a string through the middle of the pen and make it a key chain, that what i did and it's gotten me and my friends out of some tight situations

You could even cut it in half, and put a long chai through it to make a necklace.

somebody has probably already said this but you could put variation #2 in your duct tape wallet for when you need to fix it or just have extra duct tape

if you want a really good one, a genius idea in my opinion, go to Dorkfish92's version. Good instructable tho... and long live duct tape!

You can easily just grab a gift card from walmart or something. thats what i did and as long as you don't put anything on it it's free. By the way good job especially for your first ible!

I've found that version #2 will fit in a wallet better if you cut a bit off each end (or a notch) so the tape doesn't make it longer than a normal credit card.

I like the method where you put it in hot water, remove the cardboard, and put it in a vice overnight. that way, the entire roll is just compressed into a flat stick thing.

There used to be a comment pyramid (Replies stacked on each other) that stretched about 5 whole pages, and it LITERALLY EXPLODED THE WHITE SPACE and went to the side.... But that was back in April/May/June... *Sigh* Good times.

Anyways, your Instructable is very innovative!

why don't you add a little razor blade to the end so you can rip it off easier?

good idea or u can trim the ink cartridge too and insert it in
Jan 3, 2009. 12:14 PM999592 says:
can someone say "Ink everywhere?"
Jan 3, 2009. 3:58 PMERCCRE123 says:
but the cut end is inside the pen and its practivally water tight
Jan 9, 2009. 6:21 AM999592 says:
just sayin that when you cut it open its gonna go everywhere, plus when you put it in the pen its still gonna be leaking out of the cartridge. So you wouldn't be writing with it very much
Apr 17, 2010. 7:11 PMApple_4_life says:
actually dude, your completely wrong, have you ever have a soda with a straw then put ur finger over one end, then took the straw out and saw the soda was still in there? that exactly what happens with a pen.
Jun 3, 2010. 9:40 AM999592 says:
have you tried moving quickly with said straw? obviously not because you would see that if you do, the soda would come out of the straw. so unless the only movements you are going to be making with the pen are very small and very slow, like you would be making with the straw and soda, yes ink WILL be everywhere.
Jun 3, 2010. 1:52 PMApple_4_life says:
dude, just because its happened to you (probably cuz god hates u) it doesnt mean it's happened for everyone! ur acting so arrogant and ignorant
Jan 9, 2009. 4:53 PMERCCRE123 says:
but iv cut pen cartridges b4 they dont leak
