Pop Rocks Chocolate Bars

 by noahh
When my sister was getting ready to head off to Israel, she asked me if I wanted anything from there and I already had an answer prepared- the chocolate bars with Pop Rocks in them! These bars of excellence are exactly what they sound like: Delicous milk chocolate with unflavored Pop Rocks inside. They are incredible. My sister brought me back two bars, and now I have one left that I was going to save for a very special occasion. But then I thought to my self,  "Self, if  Canida can make Snickers Bars, why can't I make Pop Rocks bars?" And thus, I started on my journey. Right before I started, I did a bit of research, and it turns out that Pop Rocks once did make a chocolate bar, however I could only find $25 cases of the bars available for purchase.

Step 1: Materials and tools

You will need the following materials:

-Pop Rocks (I used two packets of strawberry Pop Rocks, priced at $0.99 each.)

-Chocolate (I started out with two $0.99 chocolate bars, which ended not being enough, so I added several cups of chocolate chips.)

You will also need these tools:

-Something to melt the chocolate in (You can use a microwavable bowl in the microwave or a double boiler. I used the microwave.)

-A mold (I used plastic containers, you could also use clean soap molds, ramekins, or a sheet pan.)

-Something to line the mold with (use parchment paper for sheet pans, and cooking oil or cooking spray for anything else.)

-A whisk

-A spatula

I wonder if it would pop less when you add it if you waited for it too cool down a bit... Maybe it would be a bit thicker & less likely to set it off... Hmmm. Great idea! I'd never heard of poprocks chocolate bars, but take 2 great things & put them together!! ;)

There are so many things I need to say about this.
  1. I LOVE pop rocks chocolate.
  2. You left out the chipotle! (trust me, this makes it epic)
  3. Canida made the snickers bars. And they were awesome.
  4. You could probably combine steps 5 & 6 and 7-9 so that you don't have to apologize for the lack of photos.

Finally, I hate to point this out, but it's scoochmaroo.

I often get called schoochmaroo, smoochmaroo, schooie, and the like, so I don't hold it against you.  It's actually a shortened version of Scoochie Maroo, which I doubt will help anyone remember it, but, nonetheless, there you go.

Thanks for thinking of me anyway :D

Oh dear, so many errors! Well, sorry for the mistake, but it's now fixed. I'm glad to hear someone else likes Pop Rocks and chocolate, not everyone I've shared it with has been incredibly enthusiastic.

OMG. Ok, I shared this (pop rocks chocolate) with my fiance who had no idea what pop rocks even were (he's British, not his fault). He HATED it. Did NOT know what was going on inside his mouth. Turns out, the term to use is "popping candy." Anywhose, I love the stuff. And you seriously have to try adding the smokey pepper to it. Intense.

May I inquire as to how it's horrible?
