Introduction: Porsche 918 Spyder
I have build the new 918 Porsche spyder.
Step 1: The Front Side
I always start with the front side of my cars because if i succeed to replicate the shapes of this part compared to the real car i am always sure the build will be a succes. A hard part for me was the window because in my opinion it always becomes too angular. In this case i think the curve of the window is succesfull recreated.
Step 2: The Doors Can Be Opened
As you can see the doors can really be opened and closed which i insisted on. You can easliy do this by using the hinge mechanism of the connector holes.
Step 3: The Rear Side
I find this part always the hardest because during building my rear end is always a naked skeleton which just need to be filled up by k'nex pieces. Then it is always hard to replicate the best curves. You can see how i did this by using a lot of pieces coming from 'k'nex mens arms'. The three yellow connectors in the middle represent the numberplate of the car. Also notice the grids and the sort of the tankhole above the engine which i made.
Step 4: From Above
Here some nice pictures from above, in these pictures you can see the general curves and lines from the car the best. As i noticed in the first picture you can see some parts are under tension, i think this is unavoidable by building cars with my angular and straight knex pieces and also the charm of car building.
Step 5: The Interior
My building always ends with the interior, i've made some fully adjustable seats and a gearshift
