You should just use tin/aluminum foil as a reflector inside a safer container. Try using a small empty jar, get half the inside covered in the foil, and work something else out to hold the lights child friendly that way

Not exactly kid safe. Perhaps you should fold down the sharp edges of the can, or cover them with electrical tape.
