Los requisitos que debía cumplir el diseño eran: 1) factibilidad; 2) economía; 3) facilidad de uso; 4) poco peso.
I recently changed my car for a 2009 Chevrolet Corsa. As I usually buy strips, profiles, plates, etc., I need to have a roof rack. I found out the price and was about 300 pesos (approx. U$S 79). I thought it was very expensive, and it was time that I was wanting to make a roof rack.
The requirements that the design had to meet were: 1) feasibility, 2) economy, 3) ease of use, 4) low weight.
Step 1: Los materiales (the materials). Acero (steel)
The first thing I got were some steel strips about 4 cm wide by 1 mm thick. They fit the profile of the roof and are from scrap. They were given to me, so I gave the boy at the scrap yard a small tip. Some strips are sweet iron (ie, pure iron, carbon-free) and not suitable for this project, but those that are steel sufficed.

I did four brackets with these strips, the way you see in the photos.
