Postpartum pads or “padsicles” will be your best friend during your postpartum healing process. These pads help soothe and heal your perineum area faster after the delivery of your baby.

What you will need:

1. 20-30 maxi/heavy flow/overnight pads with or without wings

2. pure aloe vera gel

3. witch hazel

4. Essential Oils (optional)

5. One gallon freezer bags (Ziploc or something comparable)

Directions:

Open each pad without removing the backing and wrapper if possible.

Then, add about 1-2 tablespoons of pure aloe vera gel to the pad. I just squeezed some across the center of the pad then took a spoon and smoothed the aloe vera gel across the pad. Pour about 1-2 tablespoons of witch hazel onto the pad. If desired, add 1-3 drops of essential oils onto the pad. If you do use essential oils, make sure it is a safe choice for topical use with therapeutic benefits (therapeutic grade essential oils - Young Living brand). I used 3 drops of Young Living's lavender essential oil.

Lastly, fold the pad back up and place it into a freezer bag. Each bag should hold 10-15 pads. Place the bags in your freezer and use them as soon as you get home from the hospital and until your perineum area has healed.
