Power Wheel to faster pushy car.

If you are a green thinker who hates to throw anything away, then this is a great afternoon project for those of us who have kids, a broken power wheel, and broken lawnmowers. This is still a work in progress to the finished "rally Jeep" my daughter wants, but she was absolutely thrilled just the same.

Step 1 Disasembly of those gas wasting old machines you have laying around.

I had my niece, and my oldest daughter do some junk dis assembly while I worked on some other passive solar greenhouse projects that i will submit at a later time as instructables.

It is an 84 VW rabbit GTI...so what's wrong with my blissful image of myself:)

Does the power wheel (I'm assuming that is the pink jeep contraption) still power the back wheels, or is it a downhill machine only? If it powers the back wheel, how do you transfer the power from the motor?

It is only a push car(derby style) for now, but I'm looking into picking up more broken kid's cars and lawnmowers to develop the concept a bit further. Essentially one could even make a pedal car out of one, but for now this one is a lightweight derby style speed machine. I will update this instructable once the brake assembly and finished body work is done.

So is the push from behind? Maybe you could cut out the floor and make it Flintstones style! Also, instead of replacing the front tires, maybe attach rubber to add friction?

Yep, for now we are using the roll bars that came standard as a push bar, but I will be fabricating an ergonomic push bar from those old lawnmowers possibly next weekend along with some other additions, a new paint job, and some decal work. If one were to cut out the floor, it would be very difficult for the younger ones to position themselves, as well as, it would add some unsafe elements.
