This is another recipe like the MCT oil chocolate recipe that I use to make the healthy stuff like probiotics and nutritional oils more palatable. I use mashed bananas as the base, mix in the other stuff and freeze them into tiny ice pops to have with breakfast every day. My children eat one of these every morning and love them; they also have not had any school illnesses this year; most likely due to the immune support of the probiotic bacteria.
  • Silicon candy molds
  • Ice pop sticks
  • Fork and mixing bowl
  • Something to cut the sticks like the medical scissors in the picture.

Step 1: Mash and mix

This recipe fills approximately 20 of the individual candy molds, which each hold about 2 teaspoons of mixture. It doesn't need to be perfect, just close because the banana size may add or take a few ice pops.

Mash up 2 average sized bananas in a bowl with a fork until smooth.

Calculate how much probiotic per day, I use about 1/8 to 1/4 teaspoon (depending on the label) per ice pop; so 20 x 1/8 tsp = 2 1/2 tsp of probiotic powder for the batch. Mix it into the banana mash.

Next calculate the same with the nutritional oil (Yes Parent Oil in my case); my doc recommends 1/4 to 1/2 tsp a day,
so 20 x 1/4 tsp = 5 tsp for the batch.

Now mix it all together with the fork, I sometimes use a handheld blender to make it extra smooth.

I think if you didn't use the nutritional oil, the only difference would be a harder popsicle, some vegetable oil would probably soften it too.

I think this is great! Years ago I considered doing something similar with formula & rice cereal when my baby was teething. With kids it's all about how foods are presented to them. Instead of saying, "here take your probiotics it's good for you," it is much easier to ask, "do you want a popsicle?" ;)
