This room was inspired by my 8 year old son's love for Minecraft.

I wanted to create him a room he would love but at a budget I could afford.

This project cost me less than $100 in paint and tape and just took some time and a little attention to detail and he loves it.

Step 1: Design and Supplies

The very first step is measuring out your room and creating a grid of how it will be painted.

Then gather up the supplies needed to get started

Step 2: Let's Give 'em Something to Chalk About

Using a chalking line and ruler/tape measure (I used both) start chalking out your planned color grid.

I also labeled each square with a number to represent the color it was going to be.

Step 3: Tape! Tape! Tape!

Following those chalk lines with some good painters tape (I used 3M Delicate Surfaces with Edge Lock) tape off the areas to be painted with the first color (I started with the lightest color first)

Step 4: Paint!

Paint the first color (I immediately followed with a second coat - the Olympic One paint I used dried quickly and allowed me to apply the second coat as soon as I finished the first coat throughout the room).

Step 5: Remove Tape!

Once I finished the second coat of the first shade, I immediately removed the tape. I did not wait the recommended 24 hours and had greater success with the paint not peeling up when removing.

Step 6: 2nd Shade

After waiting 24 hours from the first shade to dry, I followed the chalk lines and taped off the areas to be painted with my second paint color. I applied two coats of the second color and immediately removed the tape.

Step 7: 3rd Shade

Repeat - tape off area for 3rd shade, paint two coats and immediately remove tape once second coat is done being applied.

Step 8: 4th Shade

After waiting 24 hours from painting 3rd shade - tape off area for 4th shade, paint and after applying second coat of 4th shade remove the tape.

Step 9: 5th Shade

After waiting 24 hours from painting 4th shade - tape off area for 5th shade, paint and after applying second coat of 5th shade remove the tape.

Step 10: 6th Shade - FINAL SHADE

After waiting 24 hours from painting 4th shade - tape off area for 6th shade, paint and after applying second coat of 6th shade remove the tape.

Step 11: Enjoy Your Masterpiece!

Sit back, relax and enjoy your new room!

Whoooooooa, fantastic job! :D
