Introduction: Prototype Knex Grenade Launcher

About: Visit My Blog

ThIs gun is finished...but the firing mechanism sucks....I would really appreciate it if someone could build this model, and modify the firing mechanism...I am willing to collaborate. other than that, this gun really looks promising, the grenade design is perfectly designed to fit in the barrel. I will show you how to make each individual piece afteri get them modification, or when I have time. as you can see, this is a really long instructable...but each step goes straight from the last, and the pictures are really clear.

Step 1: The Barrel

you need 4 red connector, 4 yellow connectors, and 8 little green rods.make a square using the connectors, yellow ones facing out of the circle and put two green rods on each yellow as shown.

Step 2: The Barrel Cont'd

You will need 12 of these.just two green connectors attached by a white rod.

Step 3: The Barrel Cont'd

you need 4 long orange roods. attach a orange rod in the center of each yellow connector.then attach the greens as shown, one on top of the next one.

Step 4: The Barrel Con't

do the same thing you did with the first four greens, with the last 8, be sure to space them out a little.

Step 5: The Barrel Cont'd

this is one of the parts that needs to be modified,but...where ever theres a green connector hole, place a yellow rod through it with a single grey connector attached to its side...this only applies to the first two rows.

Step 6: The Barrel Cont'd

next...add two single grey connector to each orange rod and put the yellow rod through the holes of the grey connector.

Step 7: The Firing Pin...ugh...

this needs lots of modifications...just a simple red rod with a orange connector on the side and end (does not need to be broken)

Step 8: The Firing Mechanism

Also needs modifications, its a simple block trigger.two red rods, and you can use all white snowflakes, i just ran out of them.and an orange connector with a blue rod on it.

Step 9: The Extension

Now this is the extension of the barrel, so it can cross your shoulder, you will need 8 of those funly purple connectors, and slide them through the slots, then attach a yellow rod to the ends of them.two of the rods will need grey double connectors through them, and four will need orange connectors on the ends.

Step 10: Barrel Extension

next make this piece you need 2 wierd purple connectors, and 6 of the blue ones, if you have a better way of connecting them, be my guest...

Step 11: The Extension

Now just connect them!

Step 12: Barrel Extension

you will need four of these. two white connectors and one white rod in the middle.

Step 13: Barrel Cont'd

now put those pieces you just made and clip them to the barrel.you should alternate with under, over under, over

Step 14: Barrel Cont'd

now clip a single grey connector in front of the yellow ones then slip a yellow rod through them both *NOTE* you do not need string on them...in fact why is there string on mine?

Step 15: Barrel Connecting

now add a orange connector to the ends

Step 16: Connecting the Firing Mech

you will need to out the orange connector through the blue rod on the barrel. If you make modifications, this part will need to be moded.

Step 17: Connecting the Firing Mech

you need to attach a white rod to every other connector slot on the white connector and attach them to the middle slot of the red connectors.

Step 18: The Handle

needs major mods...grab 4 red connectors and connect them on the conors, leave one of them open. you will need two of these.

Step 19: The Handel

take two blue rods and connect them using single grey slot connectors, attach one of the rods as seen here.

Step 20: The Handel

now connect the other piece the same way as the last one

Step 21: The Handel

now just insert a white rod in each of the pairs of holes and connect the middle so it won't fall out.

Step 22: The Handle

now place a bllue across each of the red corners, and connect an orange connector between the two red ones.then connect the end somehow

Step 23: Connecting the Handle

now attach those green /other connectors to the barrel of the gun like so.

Step 24: Adding Elastics

this elastic you must need, it is essential to the design of the block trigger.you need to add the elastic so it will force the trigger down on the barrel, so it won't fire on its own, and it will go back down every reload.

Step 25: Adding Elastics

now, you can add however many elastics you please, but they must be balanced out! IF THE FORCE IS NOT EQUALLY DISTRIBUTED, MASS PADAMONIUM WILL OCCUR!(the gun will collapse on itself)

Step 26: Making the Grenade

follow the steps provided for construction.

Step 27: Loading the Grenade

now this is the real problem...this design in particular doesn't actually work that well, that is why i need some suggestions...you just put the grenade into the barrel with the connector on the yellow rod facing towards the firing mech...the grenade usually either explodes when it comes out, or doesn't come out...i need ideas, and i would be willing to collaborate with a goo designer.please tell me what you think, but no harsh critisism...this is my first REAL instructable, and i've already critisized myself.
