This is the perfect dip recipe for entertaining friends and family. Freshly baked bread, along with the warm and gooey spinach dip in the center is the perfect combination. This super easy recipe can be done on the grill or in the oven. It is much better on the grill though :-)

Step 1: Watch This Video for Detailed Instructions

Watch this video on YouTube!!

Gather these ingredients:

14 oz Pizza Dough

Olive Oil

16 oz Frozen Spinach that has been thawed and pressed to remove the water

4 oz Cream Cheese

1/2 C Shredded Mozzarella Cheese

1/2 C Shredded Colby Jack Cheese

1/4 C Shredded Pecorino Romano

1/2 C Sour Cream

1 Clove Garlic, Minced

1 Shallot, Diced

1.5 t Kosher Salt

1/4 t Red Pepper Flake

1/4 t Black Pepper

Other tools needed

1 12'' Cast Iron Skillet

1 BBQ Grill

Charcoal

Step 2: Prepare the Pizza Dough

On a floured surface, roll out the pizza dough and slice into strips. Tie the strips into little knots, a double knot may be necessary, depending on the length of the strips.

Step 3: Arrange the Dough Knots in the Cast Iron Pan

Coat all the pizza dough knots in olive oil and arrange around the perimeter of a 12'' cast iron skillet.

Cover with a towel and let rise for 2 hours.

Step 4: Make the Spinach Dip Filling

Now its time to fire up the barbecue or preheat your oven to 375F.

Add the following ingredients to a bowl and mix well.

16 oz Frozen Spinach that has been thawed and pressed to remove the water

4 oz Cream Cheese

1/2 C Shredded Mozzarella Cheese

1/2 C Shredded Colby Jack Cheese

1/4 C Shredded Pecorino Romano

1/2 C Sour Cream

1 Clove Garlic, Minced

1 Shallot, Diced

1.5 t Kosher Salt

1/4 t Red Pepper Flake

1/4 t Black Pepper

Step 5: Add the Filling to the Pan

Add the spinach dip filling to the center of the skillet.

Top the knots with some more pecorino.

Top the dip with some mozzarella, colby jack, black pepper and a little crushed red pepper flake.

Step 6: Cook the Dip

Place the skillet over indirect heat and bake for 20 minutes.

Rotate 180 degrees after 20 minutes and continue to cook for and additional 20 minutes or until the bread is golden brown and the internal temperature of the dip reads at least 165F.

Step 7: Dip and ENJOY!!

Let the dip cool for about 10 minutes and enjoy!

Tear off pieces of bread and dip right into the cheesy spinach dip!

This is wicked cool. I did something like it, but with bufallo chicken dip. I had to use a giant tortilla for the bottom, since I had to transfer the whole thing to a serving plate. I love this kind of recipe :D

That's awesome buddy!! I did another one that was pizza dip surrounded by garlic knots on my youtube channel! Love the buffalo chicken dip idea.
