Quck and Easy - Soaker Bucket by AT
Last spring I planted 150 baby trees around my property. Wouldn't you know we started a dry season last year that has gone on into this year. With these new trees spread over my entire yard, I had to come up with an efficient way to get them watered.

All you need for this project is a roll of duct tape and an old plastic pot.

I like this idea. Simple. Most people have the supplies on hand already and it really can't fail...unless it's user error, like forgetting to bring the water out. :-) Great Instructable!

If you have house cats, or know someone who does, start collecting the plastic cat liter jugs. They make great watering containers for outdoor garden plants and trees. Remove the screw on lid. Use an ice pick to punch a couple holes about an inch or two above the bottom edge. (You can put these holes on more than one side and water several plants at once.) Place beside your plant and fill with water. The water that is left in the bottom will keep the jugs in place. Got this idea from "Mother Earth News" reader write in! Works great and I know exactly how much water my garden is getting. And best yet...They stay put on our windy Kansas days!

That's a great, simple idea. How many do you have for all of your trees?

I only have 5 right now that I use. I have an adult sized wagon (holds 1000 lbs) that I load up with a large trash can and large bucket. I fill both up with water and pull them around from tree to tree. As I get to a tree, I load a soaker up with water and place it next to the tree. By the time I have used up my 5 soaker, I can go back and pick up the first one. I will make more as I replace trees or get other mid-sized plants that have this size pot. I have a few larger pots that would hole about 5 gallons of water that I could turn into the mother of all soaker buckets! There's an idea........

Nice. I've got a few still-new fruit trees, and it doesn't rain here between April and October. I'll give this a try, since I'm normally terrible about remembering to water.
