Introduction: Quick & Easy KNITTED FINGERLESS MITTENS

About: I am an artist living and teaching ART in NYC for over 30 years, and I am a CZT, Certified Zentangle Teacher. I love to explore all sorts of art making both in my teaching and in my own work...check out my sit…

Last year I knit a scarf for my niece as a Christmas gift.. This year she asked me to make her some fingerless hand warmers. This a very quick and easy idea I came up with.

Step 1: Supplies

basic knitting skills
yarn
needles
darning needle
scissors
ruler

Step 2: Cast On

cast on 20 stitches
I used size 13 needles and 2 strands of yarn.
I chose a slightly heavier yarn and a slimmer yarn to match the original scarf I knit. I like to knit with mixed yarns.

Step 3: Knit

knit eac row
I like to just use a knit stitch
I like the look of rows  of simple knitting.

Step 4: Knit

Knit about 30 rows
enough to wrap around the hand

Step 5: Knit

knit approx. 30 rows or 8 inches ( for a size small, give more rows for a larger hand)

Step 6: Cast Off

Cast off by knitting 2 stitches together
then return the remaining stitch to the needle and knit the next 2 stitches until all stitches are removed from needles.

Step 7: Knit

knit a second piece

Step 8: Sewing

Thread the darning needle with the thinner strand of yarn and sew fron
m the wrist approx. 3"
make a sturdy knot.

Step 9: Sew

leave a 2" opening and continue to sew to the top edge.

Step 10: Finish

sew second mitten and the warmers are finished.
Quick and easy!
