Introduction: Quick, No Sew Denim Dog Vest

This is a very easy dog vest.
What you will need:
   1 pair of denim jeans
   scissors

CAUTION, denim jeans must be strait wide leg or boot cut and measured to be have a circumference slightly bigger than the chest of your dog.

Today my husband bought a pair of Levi's from the thrift store and cut off the bottom half to make shorts. This is what I did with the remnant.

Step 1: Cut 1

Measure the length of your dog, from the base of their neck to half way down their back.  Cut a tube of denim from the bottom of the jeans in this length.

Note: for a more distressed look make a small cute and then tear the rest of the denim. This will give the fabric a curled and frayed look at the end.

Step 2: Cut 2

Find the widest part of the fabric. This will either be the bottom if the jeans were boot cut or either end if it is strait leg. This widest part will be the bottom of the vest and the skinniest will be the neck.

Now cut the fabric down the middle from the widest portion towards the skinniest leaving at least 2 inches of fabric at the end. This two inches will create the neck of the vest and keep it on your buddy while they run and play.

Note: if you want a rolled collar then leave more than 2 inches at the neck.

Step 3: Cut 3 and 4

Now measure how wide your dog is at the shoulder and cut two oblong holes a little larger than your dogs shoulders at least 2 inches from the end neck of the fabric. and at least one inch in from the long chest cut.  These are the arm holes of the vest.

Now embellish if you so chose and slip it on your furry friend.
