The hinges on my Inspiron 300m are worn out. Being cheap and not wanting to fork out > $100 for new hinges I came up with this simple workaround with velcro strips and a brace- mightn't look the best but it works!

Step 1: Attach velcro strips

Get some velcro strips and attach to the bottom of the laptop and the back of the screen. In retrospect I would probably go for wider strips than I have now.

..Now if only this worked.. ;-; but my hinge is broken on the inside and if I move my laptop the fan catches the broken metal pieces.

Much better if we can put a Hinge on the elbow of the metal strip or Brace so that we still can open and close it all over. Anyway, thanks for that good reference :)

you could also make a metal pocket on the bottom, just slip the L-bracket in.
This is a great idea, and i'd probably use it, if not for the fact thatyou can tighten laptop hinges with a pair of pliers, if you remove thehinge cover

Poor Man's Wobbly laptop fix: After putting up with my Dell E1505 Inspiron's laptop wobbly lid for a few months, I found the above fix on this site. However, I did it slightly differently. At my local hardware store I purchased a 3/4" wide by 16" long metal strip for about 1.50 and some heavy duty velcro grey strips for about 4.50. So, for $6.00 problem solved! All I did was bend the last couple inches of the strip around the top of the laptop, ran it down the back, and then bent it 90 degrees at the bottom where it goes underneath my laptop by about 4 inches. I used 4 strips of velcro to securely hold it in place. So far, it works great! See my 3 uploaded pictures!
