Introduction: Rainbow Popsicle Box
I've been needing some more boxes to put random stationary in on my desk, so when I saw some pretty rainbow popsicle sticks on sale, I first thought was to make a simple popsicle stick box. This is an incredibly easy project, but also a useful and customizable one - you can pick and choose the colors, size and even shape of your box!
You only need 3 things: popsicle sticks, a hot glue gun, and scissors.
Step 1: Build the Bottom
Decide on what shape of box you want - for this instructable, I decided to go witha simple square. Using hot glue on the sides of the popsicle sticks, glue together the base of your box. If you decide to go for a more complex shape, use scissors to cut the sticks into the length you need.
Step 2: Construct the Walls
From on, the steps are quite simple. Layer popsicle sticks on top of each other, slowly building up the walls of your box until you get to the desired height. Since I was going for a rainbow theme, I alternated red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and purple for the layers of my walls.
Step 3: Build the Lid
For those who don't need a lid on their box, this step is optional. We will make a simple lid for the box that will fit neatly into the two protruding sticks on either side of the box.
The principle of the lid is exactly the same as the bottom - glue sides of the popsicle sticks together to build a flat plane that will serve as your lid. Before you do any gluing however, make sure to measure out how many sticks you will need to cover the whole box!
Step 4: Clean Up
Hot glue can get a little messy, so make sure to pick off any loose strings or globs of hot glue on your new box. After that, you're done! You can use this box to store small things you have lying around on your desk, as well as add a pop of color to your workspace!
