This cake is easy to make and fun to eat- perfect for birthdays or any colorful celebration. Frosted simply with white butterceram and decorated with rainbow non pereils your guests will have no idea what is in store for them when they cut into this cake.

Ingredients:
• yellow or white cake batter, divided
• gel food dye (I use Americolor)
• buttercream frosting

Prepare your cake batter as you normally would and divide into however many sections that you would like. I used a boxed yellow cake mix for this particular cake.

A friend did this for her son's birthday over this last weekend. It was the HIT of the party. Eveyone was amazed at the colors. She did use the Americolor gels. So from her, BIG endorsement! And an equally big, THANK YOU!!!

Depending on what colors you use, and how much of each... the surprise may also continue a couple of days later. ;)

Many years ago, when I was the cook at a summer camp, I would pull this trick when ever one of the kids was having a birthday.

I followed my first instructable on here, and here it is! Didn't have the gel color, so just used traditional food coloring. Thanks for the great recipe!
