Introduction: Ramadan Special Chicken Masala With Red and Spicy Gravy

It is a simple recipe, you just need few basic ingredients but the taste is truly mouth watering. Moreover the colour of this curry is very appetizing.

Step 1: Ingredients

Cooking -
  • 2 medium sized onions (finely chopped)
  • 2 medium sized tomato (finely chopped)
  • 1 green chilli (optional)
  • 5-6 garlic cloves
  • 8-9 dry red chilli
  • 3-4 tbsp vegetable oil

To marinate -

  • 2 tbsp ginger garlic paste
  • 1 small bowl curd (50 ml)
  • Chicken - 500 grams
  • 1/2 tbsp turmeric powder
  • 1/2 tbsp red chilli powder
  • 1 tbsp coriander powder
  • 1 tbsp garam masala
  • Salt as per your taste.

Step 2: Marination

  • Wash and pat dry chicken
  • Put all the items under 'To marinate' and chicken into a bowl Mix well.
  • Leave the chicken to marinate for 15-30 minutes.

Step 3: Cooking

  • Leave the chicken to marinate for 15-30 minutes.
  • Meanwhile, grind dry red chilli and garlic cloves into fine paste with very little water and keep it aside.
  • Once chicken is marinated take a Pan or wok and
  • add oil. Once oil is heated add onion. Fry till golden brown on medium flame. After this add tomato and cook for two minutes.
  • Now add marinated chicken and mix well.
  • Now add marinated chicken and mix well.
  • Now cook for 5 minutes on medium flame.
  • Now turn the flame LOW and cover the pan and
  • leave the chicken to cook for 10 minutes (Add NO water) After 10 minutes open the cover and stir a bit and add chilli-garlic paste and mix well.
  • Cover the chicken for 5 minutes on low flame.
  • After 10 minutes open the cover and stir a bit and
  • add chilli-garlic paste and mix well. Cover the chicken for 5-8 minutes on low flame.
  • Add little water as per your gravy requirement,
  • mix and cook for 40 seconds.
  • Check if chicken pieces are tender enough. If yes chicken is ready to eat.
  • If not then let it cook (cover the pan)till the chicken is not tender.
  • Keep checking every 2-3 minutes and keep stirring.
  • Transfer it to the serving bowl.
  • Enjoy the dish with Roti (Indian bread) or rice.
