Introduction: Realistic Mini Easter Baskets

These simple and beautiful Easter baskets are easy to make and are ready almost instantly. You can expect to spend less than half an hour on these, and they are perfectly proportioned to satisfy a delicate sweet tooth. This recipe serves 8-12 and is best if served the same day.

Be sure to wash your hands like a good chef! You'll be touching this food directly.

Step 1: Gather Your Supplies

You'll need:
1.5 tbs butter
2 cups mini marshmallows, or 20 regular marshmallows (approx 5 oz)
Green and yellow food dye
3 cups rice krispies
Decorative cupcake papers

I also cut strips of paper approx 5"x2"
and you'll need tape.

Step 2: Cook

Melt the butter over medium-low heat, then add the marshmallows. Once they are (mostly) dissolved, add 8 drops of green dye, and 3 drops of yellow.

Step 3: Stir, Stir, Stir!!!

Stir like crazy until this mixture is perfectly blended. This is important.

Step 4: Mix

Add the rice krispies, and completely cover them in the marshmallow mixture so that they look completely green, like this. Keep this over low heat until you're done working with it, otherwise it will harden almost immediately.

Step 5: Shape

Spoon out a small amount of krispie treats, I suppose that I used a tennis ball sized portion, but really you can proportion them however you'd like. Make this piece pretty round, then flatten it.

Step 6: Make Your Nest

Now, push the piece that you have formed into a cupcake wrapper so that the center is on the bottom, and the rest is forming a nest shape.

Step 7: Make Some More

Now, repeat the last 2 steps until you run out of mix, then fill them with the candy of your choice. I made them using different candy eggs, but you can also use jellybeans or any Easter candy.

Step 8: Decorate

Now you can tape on the strips of paper to make them into baskets, or make any finishing touches you'd like. Enjoy!
