Step 8 Stucco

Beginning with a couple of filling coats start to fill in any gaps and built up a flat base and eventually a beautiful smooth finish. We used normal stucco mix but other types of plaster could be substituted (cob, papercrete, adobecrete etc.)

Wow!!! I am all for recycilng but, being a mason I can't see that lasting all that long, do you have freeze and thaw where you are...... You may not have enough in the ground to keep that stable, you need a better footing.

Hmmm, Good question. We do have a little freeze & thaw. Given the geology here (there's a map on theproject website) and the climate (our frost line is at 20") I think we'll be fine (we'll see). But if I was building it in a wetter place with decent winters I would definitely put in a solid footer below the frost line. I didn't mention that our trench was dug in hard clay and the bottom was compacted.
