Introduction: Red Riding Hood Hooded Scarf

This is My version of a sweet and Simple Red Riding hood Hooded scarf.
You will need to know how to do a slip stitch, chain, single crochet, double crochet, Front Post Double Crochet (FPdc), and a Back Post Double Crochet (BPdc).

Step 1: Shopping List

I know the picture shows 2 skeins of yarn but I only used 1 Skein of Medium Weight (4) red heart with Love brand yarn in the color Holly Berry.

I used a size J/10-6.00mm Hook.

Step 2: Stitch Guide

Front Post Double Crochet
FPdc
Yarn Over (YO), insert hook from front to back around post of dc, YO and pull up a loop (3loops on hook), YO and draw through 2 loops on hook, YO and draw through last 2 loops.

Back Post Double Crochet
BPdc
Yarn Over (YO), insert hook from back to front around post of dc, YO and pull up a loop (3loops on hook), YO and draw through 2 loops on hook, YO and draw through last 2 loops.

sc- Single Crochet
dc- Double Crochet
sp- Space
st(s)- stitch(es)

Step 3: Starting Scarf

Chain 254


Step 4: Row One

(right side): 2 DC, ch1, 2dc in 6th ch from hook (5skipped chs count as first dc plus 2 skipped chs), * skip next 4 chs, 2dc, ch1, 2dc in next ch; repeat from * across to last 3 chs, dc in last ch.

you should have 202dc and 50 ch-1spaces.

loop a short piece of yarn around or use a stitch marker on any stitch to mark Row 1 as right side.

Step 5: Row Two

Ch 1, Turn; sc in first dc, work FPdc around next dc, work BPdc around next, sc in next ch-1sp, work BPdc around next dc, * work FPdc around each of next 2 dc, work BPdc around next dc, sc in next ch-1 sp, work BPdc around next dc; repeat from * across to last 2 dc, work FPdc around next dc, sc in last dc.

you should have 252sts.

Step 6: Row 3

Ch 3 (counts as first dc, now and throughout), Turn; skip next 2 sts, 5 sc in next sc, (skip next 4sts, 5sc in next sc) across to last 3 sts, Skip next 2 sts, dc in last sc.

Step 7: Row 4

This row is very similar to Row 1. :)

Ch 3, turn; skip next 2sc, in the next sc you will do 2dc, ch1, 2dc,*skip next 4sc, in the next sc you will do 2 dc, ch1, 2dc; Repeat from * to last 3 sts, skip next 2 sc, and dc in the last dc.

Step 8: Rows 5-8

they will be Repeats of rows 2-4 once, then repeat Row 2 once more.

Finish off with a slip stitch cut yarn and weave in ends.

Step 9: HOOD Row 1

With right side facing, skip first 80sts and join yarn with dc in next st; Skip next 2sts, 5 sc in next sc, (skip 4sts, 5sc in next sc) 17 times, Skip next 2 sts, dc in next st, leave remaining 80sts unworkded.

Step 10: HOOD Row 2

Ch 3, Turn; skip next 2 sc, (2dc, ch1, 2dc) in next sc, * skip next 4 sc, (2 dc, ch1, 2dc) in next sc; repeat from * across to last 3 sc, skip next 2sc, dc in last sc

you should have 74dc and 18 ch-1 sps

Step 11: HOOD Row 3

Ch 1, Turn; sc in first dc, work FPdc around next dc, work BPdc around next, sc in next ch-1sp, work BPdc around next dc, * work FPdc around each of next 2 dc, work BPdc around next dc, sc in next ch-1 sp, work BPdc around next dc; repeat from * across to last 2 dc, work FPdc around next dc, sc in last dc.

you should have 92sts.

Step 12: HOOD Row 4

Ch3, Turn; skip next 2sts, 5sc in next sc, (skip next 4 sts, 5 sc in next sc) across to last 3 sts, skip next 2 sts, sc in last dc.

Step 13: HOOD Rows 5-9

Repeat Rows 2-4 once, then repeat Rows 2 and 3 once more.

Step 14: Joining Row (back Hood Seam)

Ch1, turn; with right side together, matching sts on row 9, and working through both loops of both thicknesses, sc in each st across; finish off cut yarn and weave in ends.

Step 15: Edging

Sc all around.
when you reach your starting point ch 2, skip 1ch, sc into next ch. Repeat all around. Finish off, Cut yarn, and weave in all ends!
