Step 3Inflate The Inner Bag
The cartridge has a foil bag inside it - just like a Capri Sun or some other collapsible foil bag drink. As the bag empties, it collapses. This causes a problem for us when refilling: the weight of the solution doesn't quite exert enough pressure to re-inflate the bag, so partway through our refill process the solution a) won't go in the bag anymore and b) flows out all over the table.
Both of these are known as "Bad".
To avoid this problem, we employ the McStraw. I chose the McStraw over other straws because it has the perfect diameter to fit into the opening of the cartridge and allow us to blow (gently but firmly) into the bag, reinflating it and making it ready to accept it's new influx of solution. I also recommend marking the straw in some manner to make sure you always blow in the same end. Simple Green tastes horrible. :-)
Just insert the straw in the hole and blow gently, listening to the bag reinflate. Once it stops crackling and you feel an increase in pressure, you're done. Remove McStraw and set aside.
