Introduction: Removing Rust With Baking Soda
Baking soda is readily available in every household and can remove rust effectively. Before reaching for harsh chemicals, try baking soda.
Here are the materials you need:
- Baking soda
- Scrubing pad
- Rusty object
Step 1: Sprinkle Baking Soda on Rusted Areas
Apply some water onto the object you want to remove the rust from. sprinkle a generous amount of baking soda onto the wet area. the baking soda should stick to the wet areas. with some gentle taps, the excess will fall off.
Step 2: Remove the Rust
Wet the scrubbing pad with some water and gently scrub the baking soda covered object. Always keep the scrubbing pad wet to reduce scratching to the metal surface. When most of the baking soda has been dissolved, sprinkle some more until the surface has no more rust.
Step 3: Rust Is Removed
After 5 minutes of scrubbing, most of the rust has been removed.
Using this method does not require electricity unlike using the electrolysis method; it also takes less time and materials. After the rust had been removed, paint or oil can be applied so that the metal will not rust again.
