Introduction: Replacing Buttons on a Game System or Controller

In this video, I replaced some poorly designed soft contact style buttons with hard tactile button on the directional pad of a Sudoku game system. This process will also work for TV or other remote controllers, video game controllers (especially older ones), or any other device with the soft style buttons.

-The first step is disassembly.

-Next, determine the type of modification. If you can cut through the circuit board without harming the function, this video shows the repair method. If not, wait for the companion video on surface soldering buttons onto circuitry.

-Then, determine the necessary reconnections to be made after cutting the circuitry according to the button size.

-Set the buttons in place and glue them for solidity.

-Solder the buttons to each other and the circuit board accordingly.

-Reassemble the device and play away to your heart's content!
