Introduction: Ribbon Cushions!!!

About: I am a homemaker from India and always love creating something new and interesting!!

Easy to make, super pretty cushion covers!!

Step 1: Things Required!!

1. Basting Canvas

2. Satin Ribbons 1/2" wide (Various colours)

3. Cotton fabric (for back)

4. Iron

5. Scissors

6. All pins

7. Sewing Machine/ Needle and thread

Step 2: Cutting and Pinning

Cut the basting canvas to the size of cushion you have, generally 16"x16".

Keep the sticky side up and we will work on this side.

Start pinning and cutting the ribbons starting from diagonal end as shown in picture (measure them along the canvas, keep the size of ribbon little longer than canvas).

In this design, we will take one roll of ribbon and start from one diagonal end and other colour from opposite end upto the center. (refer images)

Step 3: Weaving

Now we will weave on the ribbon base we prepared. Take either of the colours and start from middle till one end and do same with other colour on other diagonal portion. Refer images.

Step 4: Sticking!!

Now Iron the prepared design on back side. So that the ribbons get stuck to canvas.

Remove all pins.

Step 5: Making Back!!

Take the cotton fabric, cut two pieces size of 3/4th of the cushion and overlap them one upon another. Keep it above the ribbon design. Pin them as shown in image.

Step 6: Stitching!!

Stitch them together, keep 1/2" margin, stitch from canvas side.

Stitch from all sides.

If you don't have sewing machine, you can use needle and thread and back stitch.

Step 7: Trimming!!

Trim extra length of the ribbons and then over-lock the sides using zig-zag stitch, as in image.

Step 8: Final Step!! :D

Bring the right side out of the cover and iron it on the back side. And it is done!!!!!!

refer images: how your back and front will look like.

Step 9: Designs!!

Make as many designs you like, experiment with different colors and patterns!!!
