So instead, I made a rice alarm that alerts you when the rice has stopped heating and is instead in a sort of rice quantum superposition, neither cooked nor uncooked, and festering it's Venusian cloud of rice vapor. This way the cooker can be even more obnoxiously helpless in it's need for constant tending. It should work on any cooker with a flip switch on the front. You know the kind I mean. The irritatingly simple kind that doesn't even have an LCD display so you can play that little worm game on it, where you eat little squares and run into your tail. Worm tron or whatever.
Although the idea of a virtual pet appliance, like a fridge whose avatar evolves based on what foods you put in it, seems a little interesting. Actually this instructable is rather mundane so this is me giving it some semblance of interest.

I know exactly the sort of rice cooker you mean; I have one. But I'm not sure where to find things like a buzzer, microswitch and battery holder since I've never tried anything like this before. I don't have a soldering gun, etc., either.
But, thank you for posting this! I hope it helps someone who forgot to comment.
