Introduction: Rip UMDs From Any PSP
FIRST OFF: You need a PSP with Custom Firmware 3.52M33-4 or higher. This guide is only on how to rip UMDs and not on how to hack the PSP into running CFW.
Disclaimer: THERE IS NOT A VERY HIGH RISK OF BRICKING YOUR PSP, BUT IF YOU DO, I HOLD NO LIABILITY FOR WHAT YOU DO IN THIS GUIDE REGARDING YOUR PSP.
Things needed:
PSP with CFW 3.52m33-4 or greater (there are guides for lower firmwares but this is for 3.52 or greater)
Computer
UMD (Movie or Game)
PSP USB Cable - NO MEMORY STICK READERS
Step 1: Rip UMDs Into ISOs
Step 1: Go into the recovery menu (Boot while holding R), go into Configuration -> and change the XMB Usb Device (currently: ?????????) to UMD Disc by hitting X over the selection and hitting left or right on the D-Pad. Then exit the recovery menu.
You could also do Step 1 from the VSH menu. In the XMB hit Select (or Home on some versions) and the VSH menu will pop up. Change the USB Device to UMD Disc
Step 2: Connect The PSP to the computer
Step 3: Go into USB Mode on your PSP
Step 4: Open up your PSP which will be under the name of the UMD's ID#, and you will see a file called UMD9660.ISO
Step 5: Copy it to your Computer and Rename it to the name of your game.
Your Done Ripping!
Step 2: Run the ISOs on Your PSP
Step 1: Go into the recovery menu (Boot while holding R), go into Configuration -> and change the UMD Mode (currently: ????????????? to M33 Driver -NO UMD- by hitting X over the selection and hitting left or right on the D-Pad. Also make sure Use VshMenu enabled Then exit the recovery menu.
Don't worry the -NO UMD- Doesn't mean you can't run UMDs.
For Game ISOs:
Step 2a: Copy the ISO to the ?:/ISO folder, and if there is no ISO folder, create one
Step 3a: in the XMB, go to Game => Memory Stick and you should see your game. Hit X to run it
For Movie ISOs
Step 2b: Copy the ISO to the ?:/ISO/VIDEO folder, and if there is no ISO/VIDEO folder(s) create them
Step 3b: Hit Select (or on some older firmwares, hit Home) and then scroll down to ISO VIDEO MOUNT and select your ISO.
Step 4b: In the XMB, go to Video => UMD and the video will load.
NOTE: you must change the mount settings to switch between Movie ISOs.
