Introduction: Rip UMDs From Any PSP

FIRST OFF: You need a PSP with Custom Firmware 3.52M33-4 or higher. This guide is only on how to rip UMDs and not on how to hack the PSP into running CFW.

Disclaimer: THERE IS NOT A VERY HIGH RISK OF BRICKING YOUR PSP, BUT IF YOU DO, I HOLD NO LIABILITY FOR WHAT YOU DO IN THIS GUIDE REGARDING YOUR PSP.

Things needed:

PSP with CFW 3.52m33-4 or greater (there are guides for lower firmwares but this is for 3.52 or greater)

Computer

UMD (Movie or Game)

PSP USB Cable - NO MEMORY STICK READERS

Step 1: Rip UMDs Into ISOs

Step 1: Go into the recovery menu (Boot while holding R), go into Configuration -> and change the XMB Usb Device (currently: ?????????) to UMD Disc by hitting X over the selection and hitting left or right on the D-Pad. Then exit the recovery menu.

You could also do Step 1 from the VSH menu. In the XMB hit Select (or Home on some versions) and the VSH menu will pop up. Change the USB Device to UMD Disc

Step 2: Connect The PSP to the computer

Step 3: Go into USB Mode on your PSP

Step 4: Open up your PSP which will be under the name of the UMD's ID#, and you will see a file called UMD9660.ISO

Step 5: Copy it to your Computer and Rename it to the name of your game.

Your Done Ripping!

Step 2: Run the ISOs on Your PSP

Step 1: Go into the recovery menu (Boot while holding R), go into Configuration -> and change the UMD Mode (currently: ????????????? to M33 Driver -NO UMD- by hitting X over the selection and hitting left or right on the D-Pad. Also make sure Use VshMenu enabled Then exit the recovery menu.

Don't worry the -NO UMD- Doesn't mean you can't run UMDs.

For Game ISOs:

Step 2a: Copy the ISO to the ?:/ISO folder, and if there is no ISO folder, create one

Step 3a: in the XMB, go to Game => Memory Stick and you should see your game. Hit X to run it

For Movie ISOs

Step 2b: Copy the ISO to the ?:/ISO/VIDEO folder, and if there is no ISO/VIDEO folder(s) create them

Step 3b: Hit Select (or on some older firmwares, hit Home) and then scroll down to ISO VIDEO MOUNT and select your ISO.

Step 4b: In the XMB, go to Video => UMD and the video will load.

NOTE: you must change the mount settings to switch between Movie ISOs.

Step 3: Rip ISOs Straight to the Memory Card

now, obviously this is going to take a bit longer, not that much though. 800 megabyte iso in about 10 minutes. Download psp filer from here: http://dl.qj.net/PSP-Filer-6.0-PSP-Homebrew-Applications/pg/12/fid/26323/catid/190 6.0 is currently the newest version. scroll down past the add for the orange download button. install it just like you would any other homebrew, and then launch it. with your iso in the drive, press triangle, then press R. it will begin ripping after you name the iso file, which i didnt in the video above. after it is done ripping, find the iso file, and move it to the same iso folder thundaboy told you to make earlier. exit psp filer and launch!! i think the video flder is there so you can rip umd movies, but im not sure. i never tried it. Have fun, and what ever you do, do not get games from gamefly and rip them, or goto pspiso.com and make an account for free to download theri iso and cso(they also go into your iso filder) games to play, because that would be pirating. there is a video i took but i am waiting for youtube to process it. oh lol its done.
