Get two red T-shirts, preferrably the same color and make yourself a tunic. one shirt is normal, the other shirt will be cut and tied around your waist to make the skirt. If they're the same color, they will look like one tunic.

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaand, you're done. =

Go feed some Christians to lions, dominate a continent, build a road, and speak Latin. you now have a Roman-esque soldier's uniform.

People get a kick out of watching me ride my bike wearing this outfit. I'm wearing it for a week since I have kid's classes until the 31st (Halloween) so everyday is like halloween for me. After 3 days (already) it's still holding up with some torn duct tape on the belt, and some frayed edges from being rubbed. I sweat a lot because I'm standing around in this outfit.

The best part is walking around telling people your name is Biggus D---us. And that you command that they "Wewease Woger!"

Hi, thanks for your help. My sons school decided to drop the 'make a homemade roman costume' on me 2 days before it was due and i had no ideas. After a lot of looking through images my son loved the look of yours and so it began.Lets hope he wins first prize. Thanks again. :-)

Thanks for posting this! Very cool and great to have the comments from the learning along the way. I'm putting together my own version this weekend. When I was shopping for parts I realized a simple solution to keep the belt from sliding down, Braces/Suspenders. Most of them are clipons these days and can attach directly to the belt once you get them adjusted properly.

Thanks again! I'll try to post a pic of my finished product as well. :)

Thank you so much! I am working on a spartan armor and this helps me with certain parts of the build. If I did not find this, I would have never been able to cheaply make spartan armor. Thank you so much!

oh geez! This is way cool! The texturing using wood-glue is the best, great idea! I want to make this... and another good thing about it is that i won't have to spend that much money if any!

I think the coolest part is how you used glue to texturize the cuirass/breastplate. One time on a costume I made, I had to coat this fireman's axe head with wood glue since the spraypaint dissolved the foam, but it ended up giving it a great texture.

thanks so much. My son had to do a project on Roman Soldier and these instructions made his presentation a A+. AND we had a great time doing it together. I figure we spent about $15.00 and many hours but it was worth it. We would never have been able to do this without your instructions. Thanks for sharing your creative gifts.
