Rope Bridge Bookshelf

Rope Bridge Bookshelf
The rope bridge bookshelf lets books have a relaxed home when they're not being read. It can be rough being opened and left in all sorts of locations during the reading process and the books have earned a nice break.

That's exactly what I was thinking! It would just have to be a bit bigger.

My cat would sit on it if it was too small or not.

But then again, my cat has a few problems...

It looks so fun! I think you must have some of the luckiest books in the world, they must have a very fun time at your house. If I ever find the time, this is definitely going on my list of things to make.

This is fantastic! I think it would be great for too if you wanted to make several and dedicate a whole wall to them. I've been wanting to build a bookcase but don't really want a big hulking book case in the corner of my bedroom. But several layers of these on the smallest wall would be great! I could even put little motion activated accent lights under them. :) Thanks!

I don't think they'd be any more unstable than on a normal bookshelf without bookends.

Great answer man! Really clever
May 4, 2010. 6:02 PMspiderham says:
Very cool! How about adding a rope railing to give it some novelty.
May 13, 2010. 1:44 PMspiderham says:
I think you missunderstood my use of the word "novelty." What I meant was change the style of the shelf from what I see as contemporary to more eclectic. Personally, I would build the shelf as you did, just thought I'd throw the idea out there for those with less contemporary tastes. It is a great looking shelf.

That would be so cool!  Plus, really handy here in California!  (rumble, rumble, shake, shake)  ;)

This is really cool. It also gave me a cool idea, make a mega sized version, put some foam padding (like memory foam) on it, and use it as a bed. It would be really cool.
May 6, 2010. 3:05 PMbowmaster says:
Yes, something similar to that, but mattress sized.
