An option instead of the handle of the flail would be the eye splice. Make a few more "tucks" than shown and have the loop considerably larger than what is shown in that link; I use a loop with a 24 inch circumference, but one as small as 20 inches works just fine. Experiment with different sizes to find one good for your grip. By looping part of the loop around you wrist and holding the parts closer to the main tail, you can avoid any accidental flying away of the flail or thwart attempts by an opponent to take it.

oh yeah!!!!!!!!!! I make monkey's fists all the time. their sweeeeeet!!! try it yourself and add a core to the fist such as on of those big marbles to start with. you'll love it!

if you make the monkey fist without the handle, and make the extra rope longer (i use para cord) you can slide it through an aluminum arrow and swing it around and let it go, it will send the monkey fist flying pretty fast

Man! I just thought of making these WITHOUT looking at this 'ible and was gonna make an 'ible about them until I found out one already existed. :P Darn. Mine are pretty similar, but the rope handles kept getting loose. Might be because the knot at the end is different but IDK. Anyone have this problem? I'll post a pic if needed.
