Introduction: Tie Dye Banding
I Looked in the contests tab and saw the Rubber Band challenge and the first thing that came to my mind was Tie Dye. It is really neat and fun to make with friends, family or by yourself! In this instructable I will show you some different methods on how to tie patterns. All these shirts turn out amazing! The pictures above were taken in Mexico :D they turned out sick :D Enjoy :)
Step 1: Materials
You will need
1: Rubber Bands
2: A 100% cotton white shirt
3: Soda ash
4: Warm water
5: A large bowl or a bucket
Before you tie the shirt you must let It sit in a bath of Soda ash and warm water for five minutes. This makes the shirts take the dye in better.
Step 2: Bullseye
1: Pick the shirt up form the middle
2: Space the rubber bands as far as you like from each other I prefer Inches apart
3:Now you are ready to dye!
Step 3: Double Spiral
1: Fold the shirt in half diagonally
2: Pinch the center of the folded shirt and twist it
3: Rubber band the shirt and you are ready to dye!
Step 4: Donuts
1: Pinch random spots on the shirt and band it twice the first band is to mark the middle color of the Donut and the second band will be for the donut itself.
2: Do that multiple times every where on the shirt and then you are ready to dye!
Step 5: Spiral
1: Pinch the center of the shirt or where you want the spiral to come from
2: Twist it in a circle from like spaghetti on a fork
3: Rubber band and you are ready to dye!
Step 6: Stripes
1: Fold the shirt like an accordian horizontally or verticly
2: You can make the folds as wide as you like but I prefer smaller folds
3: You are ready to dye!
Enjoy :) I hope I helped make you some awesome tie dye! If i did check out the I made it feature.
