Introduction: Rude Doll

About: I'm a mechanical engineer, and I like computer programming, mechanics, electronics and specially the robotics.
This is simple electric doll that turns around and sticks his tongue out at everyone.
If you want to make this doll, follow this instructable.

Step 1: Things You Need

To make this doll you need the following things:

  • A plastic sheet
  • A 60rpm mini-motor with gearbox
  • A small wheel
  • Rubber band
  • A simple switch
  • AA battery holder + 2 batteries
  • Some wire
  • A dead pen (inner and outer tubes)
  • Some thread and some wool string
  • Small plastic red thin sheet
  • Some pieces of wood
  • A nail
  • Thick paper
  • Cloth
And the following tools and materials:
  • Glue
  • Drill
  • Pliers
  • Soldering tools
  • Needle and thread
  • Scissors
  • ...

Step 2: The Wheel

The doll must turn a little, stop turning, stick his tongue out and continue turning. So cut some rubber band to the length of half of wheel perimeter and attach it to the wheel with glue. Attach a needle to the wheel on the opposite side of the rubber band. Then attach the wheel to the motor.

Step 3: The Base

Put motor and battery holder beside plastic sheet and mark wheel position on the plastic sheet. Then make a hollow for the wheel on the plastic sheet with your tools.

Step 4: Assembling Motor to the Base

Make some holes with drill on the plastic sheet to fasten the motor on the sheet by wires coming through the holes. Place the motor on its position and attach it with glue and fasten it by pulling wires. Note that you must adjust the motor elevation in a way that the wheel touches ground only by the rubber band (only half of its perimeter).

Step 5: Switch and Batteries

Solder the battery holder wires to the switch and motor and attach them to the motor by glue. Then fasten them by soldering some wires to each other.

Step 6: The Tongue

Attach a thread to the middle of the plastic red thin sheet, bend it and attach it to a piece of wood with glue and a nail. Attach other pieces of wood beside that piece. Now attach wood pieces on the top of the battery holder with glue.

Step 7: The Tongue Rod

Turn on the motor till the wheel needle comes to highest position. Connect one side of pen inner tube to the wheel needle. Cut extra tube and connect tongue thread to its other side.

Step 8: The Head

Draw the shape of the head on a thick paper and cut it out and make the head of the doll. Don't forget to make his mouth hollow. Attach the head to a position that only a little of his tongue comes out of the mouth. (The wheel needle must be in the highest position.)

Step 9: The Hair

Pass a string through the pen outer tube. Twist some wool string on the pen tube, then pull them out of the tube and tie the string that have been passed through the pen tube. Cut other side of string with scissors. Then attach hair with glue on the head of the doll.

Step 10: The Face

Paint the face of the doll.

Step 11: The Cloth

Attach two paper hands to the doll. Then cover him with cloth and sew up the top back of the cloth with needle and thread.

Step 12: Action

Place batteries into the battery holder, turn on the doll and let him to stick his tongue out at everyone around.
