Run Backups on any Wii Without a Modchip

Step 5: Make and Run Games

I will teach you how to make and run games

if you have an iso that is 4.37GB it is UNPATCHED (1:1) and if it is 3.99GB it is PATCHED.

Bakcup Launcher works better with unpatched games than it does with patched ones

The DVD Read Error is because the disc is not good, you need to be burning to medium to good quality DVD-R Discs. (Notice the dvd-R. NO DVD+Rs)

If you have an Iso you should burn it on to a DVD-R at 2x-4x, but the loader runs at 3x, so 3x is perfect if you can burn at 3x. A great FREE burning program is ImgBurn for PCs and you can use the built in Disk Utility for Macs

All you have to do then is stick it in your wii and hit launch game

Hope you enjoy

I did all of the things mentioned in the guide, i installed backup launcher 0.3 and burned super mario galaxy 2 in a 4x speed on a Verbatin DVD-R , i inserted the game in the wii console, and opened the backup launcher. as soon as i did that, the screen went black and i had to turn plug my wii off to gain control of my console again. can anybody help me solve this?

keep getting error code 1208 wii version 4.3 using dvd-r @3x can someone advise please

wii update made it so you can't run homebrew channel 'cuz you can get roms from it and play them. Its just a big emulator, that lets you backup games and play CD's or DVD's

hey I burned wii sports resort with TDK DVD-R cds and when I insert the disc I get an error but I can't read the error because it's like blury.and I forced NTSC
alexthepwner in reply to spawn1greenMar 14, 2011. 8:25 PM
for wii sports resort you have to look that one up because the wii motion plus video that is supposed to play is causing the error so incase you havent figured it out thats most likely it

I modded my Wii (not chip). When I put in a disk and load it from the Backup Channel, it takes me to Gamma. I hit "Load Disk". I get the Disk ID and then nothing. I burned onto a Sony - R at 3X speed. Any ideas of whats going on? PLEASE HELP.
ElMoustashio in reply to wwwilliams4Nov 12, 2010. 8:10 AM
Try using a USB flash drive or a USB external hard drive (formatted to WBFS) and download WBFS Manager 3.0 on your computer. Keep your receipt on the flash drive/ external hard drive just in case it is not compatible with WBFS Manager 3.0

Can this just be within the homebrew channel, or does it have to be an independent channel(can I launch it from the homebrew channel if I want without installing it directly to the menu)?

help can i use dvd+RW too?
Tails41347 in reply to dragydofJun 22, 2010. 7:40 PM
Yepp! DVD+RW works on wii. Just burn it on 1x on imgburn. I did burn it on 4x once and the movies in the game did play really slow. 1x will play movies faster, try it out! I have a likely disk as the picture shows but DVD+RW instead.

Hi,  all I did was in the configuration options in neogamma r7 was Set the language to console default (not to sure if this had much to do with it) and set the alternative .dol to disc, this also worked for backup loader 0.3.   sorry if this has not helped much but that is all I have done to get back up games working.

When I use DVD+R it shows some error and i've read some comments saying it works, so is it because i need to force something or set my options a certain way? please reply
angelxwind says: Aug 29, 2009. 7:29 PM
Um...you DO know that you can use DVD+Rs, I've tried it, the only downside is the slower loading times, but DVD + R s will work.
seanmack36 says: Jul 22, 2009. 6:09 AM
I finally got the 002 error to go away by installing the CIOSv13b. But now, similarly to deltemis, the screen keeps scrolling downwards. When I force it to NTSC, the screen is just GREEN. Any ideas what i may be doing wrong? Also, how do I verify what region my Wii is? Thanx
deltemis in reply to seanmack36Jul 22, 2009. 6:06 PM
what game were you trying to load when this happened? and what dvd brand and speed are you using? i've gotten this green screen burning at various rates as well as 2 different dvd-r brands i've even gotten a pink screen from madworld when forced ntsc
seanmack36 in reply to deltemisJul 22, 2009. 7:24 PM
I believe I was trying to play PNC Darts. I'm using Verbatim DVD-R's and I burned it at the default speed, which i believe is 12x. The thing is, when I use the default Load Settings or if I force anything other than NTSC, the game loads but the screen skips up-down. Only when I force NTSC, do I get the green screen. The only game that I have successfully run is Virtua Tennis 2009. I believe its the only USA game that I have tried. Trying another right now as we speak. Any ideas of what may be going on? Might I be limited to USA games only?
deltemis in reply to seanmack36Jul 23, 2009. 1:25 AM
yeah it seems dvd qual/burn speeds aren't hte result of this. it's mainly because of the way new games are made or written. i did some reading and digging around and it turns out the green screen is fixable but for only some games. you need to update the cios36 to rev 13a i think, and maybe the ios249. i'm still unsure as to what i need to do exactly but for now, you're still able to play a bunch of pal games, just force ntsc for anything pal, most games work, just not newer ones if you want a list of games i've tried that green screens w/ this instructable installed only, pm me and i'll type it out for ya i'll post back if i can get past the green screens
deltemis says: Jul 14, 2009. 1:59 PM
hey all, i installed the channel and tried my first game burned at 4x dvd-r. when the game started, the screen was positionally off, fuzzy, and constant pixel jumping from b/w to color but overall it stayed b/w. is there anything i can do to fix this?
deltemis in reply to deltemisJul 14, 2009. 2:09 PM
forgot to mention this but the game does work. it started, loaded, ran fine and i played the game for 5 mins just to test it out and it all works. i'm only having the afformentioned problem
deltemis in reply to deltemisJul 17, 2009. 7:09 PM
fixed the problem myself, forgot that i was downloading PAL region games, to fix it all you have to do is turn force ntsc to yes and it'll work flawlessly
chunkie1958 in reply to deltemisJul 15, 2009. 5:31 AM
is the game a Pal or Euro...and your Wii a NTSC.or USA ? I have the same problem when I tried a couple of the games not for my region. make sure the game is for your region and that should fix your problem..

hey guys... i've installed backuploader and so on on my wii.. it works perfectly... a friend of mine gave me some games and i played them and they worked perfectly i wanted to play games to... so i grabbed tenchu and tried to burn it on a dvd... i looked at the dvds of my friend and they were DVD+r verbatim so i buyed DVD+R verbatim and tried to burn the unpatched iso to the DVD i used imageburn... i wanted to write on writespeed 3X but it wrote on 2,4X... and the game did not work... i did not buy DVD-R because the games of my friend are DVD+R +++++++++++++++++++++++R so why isn't it working.. can you help me pleasssssse thx
deltemis in reply to LuqyJul 17, 2009. 7:08 PM
what do you mean "did not work"? any details? like did it black screen? freeze? crash? what happened? also, use dvd-r, it doesn't matter if your friend uses +r, use -r like it's recommended. i've tried +r, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't also the speed you burn at doesn't truly matter (as far as i know) as long as there aren't any errors

Im new to the wii "hacking" world, but not to the hacking world in general. I have a modded xbox 360 and Im interested in trying this method for my wii. Is this a safe proccess? There's no chance this would possibly "brick" my wii is there? thanks
nocoolnameshere in reply to attackmonkeyJul 1, 2009. 3:29 AM
no this will not brick your wii as we are only transferring channels which nintendo lets you do... It would be best if your wii is version 3.0 ~ 4.0. You can find out by going to wii settings and there it is in the corner. BTW, this destroys your warranty... hope it helps

i have the backup channel but when i put the game in to play i get error 324 can someone help me
gdobbski in reply to buggwaJun 23, 2009. 4:32 AM
You need to use Verbatim DVD-r x16 discs & burn using imgburn at x3 speed. This fixed it for me. Hope that helps.
rufusthomas says: Mar 11, 2009. 12:04 PM
Ok so I was wondering what brand of dvd-+r would work the best. i've tried magnavox -r,hp -r and +r. and no luck with either.
