Run Multiple Operating Systems On Your Computer

 by TechnoGeek95

Step 3: Choose Your Guest OS

Again, you can run any guest operating system of your choice. However, VirtualBox his optimized for Windows, Linux 2.4, Linux 2.6, Solaris 10, OpenSolaris, FreeBSD, OpenBSD, and OS/2 Warp 4.5. Current as of 3/29/09.

However, one thing to consider is to use an OS that has modest system requirements. If your guest OS is system-resource hungry, you will either run out of hard drive space or RAM. I decided to use Ubuntu 8.10, latest version at time of writing. Ubuntu's minimum system requirements are 256 MB of RAM and 4 GB of hard disk space.

You will need to either have your chosen operating system's install disc or download its ISO disc image.
