Introduction: Russian Beef & Cabbage Pie
For this recipe you will need:
1 lb. of ground beef
1 lb. of thinly sliced cabbage
1 lb. chopped onion
1 cup of Milk
1 cup of butter
1 tsp. salt
1 tbsp. sugar
2 tsp yeast
3 cups flour
The first part is prepare the fill in. To ground beef add salt and black pepper, and ½ cup of chopper onion.
Frying ground beef on fry pan with small amount of sunflower oil. After meat is cooked drain well all extra fats in small bowl.
Ready fried ground beef put in big bowl.
Extra oil, that we had from the fried beef put back to pan, if need you can add little more sunflower oil. When oil is hot add 1 & ½ cup of chopped onion and fry to gold color. When onion is ready drain all extra oil in small bowl.
Add the onion to cooked fried beef. Do not mix yet!
Extra oil and add more sunflower oil to fry pan, when oil is hot add salted thinly sliced cabbage and fry to gold color.
Add the cooked cabbage to big bowl with meat and onion and now mix all together. Fill in is ready.
The second part is prepare in dough.
Warm milk mix with warm butter, add yellow egg and whipped white egg into a thick foam and add to dough. Add to dough salt, sugar, yeast and flour. Mix very tide and left to grown up.
When dough is ready make one big pie as on picture or make a small circles and put fill in and close them. You can fry them as French fry in big amount of oil or in pan in oven with T 375* for about 25 min for 15 x 10 pan.
