um...... it will harden over night, but for fun, try to make a dough out of 4 cups brown sugar, 1 teaspoon of jam, and 4-8 table spoons of olive oil or conola oil. also this brown dough could be used to make fake poop!

My daughter is having a slumber party and she loves your recipe for play doh. She is wanting each girl to make the play doh and then a bowl and for me to cook them. How much will this recipe make? Will this be a good size for each child? Also do you know the best time to cook it or would just watching it be the best way. I would be cooking about 6 bowls. Can you put a glaze over them once done cooking to hold them together better. Thank you for such a great fun cheap activity for our girls!

This stuff will keep if refrigerated.

If you want to bake it to harden it, do it at a low temperature (approx. 200 degrees Fahrenheit) for several hours. You can put some aluminum foil of the top of it to keep it from browning, but if you are going to paint it, it doesn't really matter if it is going to brown or not.

Hi everyone!  I just signed up and I am delighted to be part of this group!  I used salt dough clay to construct an Easter gift for my mother at least 15 years ago.  Happy to say it's still in good shape!  I made an "Easter at Grandma's House scene.  I just wanted to share a few ideas that I had discovered "by accident"

My favorite:  push the dought through the holes of a metal seive, or strainer and you will get curly hair!  Use something  with larger holes and you can get long curls!  thin craft wire makes wonder specs!  Use a cheese shreader for a layered soft wavey hairdo.  Really, just look around your kitchen and let your imagination work for you!

Happy Crafting!  Ginger

I made this with my class - we made ornaments - we added about 2 tablespoons of cinnimon to get it a holiday smell - we placed them in the sun to harden - I tried to put in the oven but I used self-rising flous so they came out all distorted - I would suggest using plain flour and only leavin t=in the oven for about 3 or 4 minutes
