When I was in third grade
I was in a small art class
and we were using a
type of clay called "salt-dough"
The teacher told us how to make it.
I am a little rusty so if you have any
Q's I will have some A's!!!

Step 1: Gather Materials

You will need
1/2 cup to 1 cup of
flour

1 cup to 1 1/2 cup
of salt

and 1/2 cup to 1 cup
of water

(believe me, you will need a BIG bowl)

Step 2: MIX!

You will mix in all of the dry ingredients first,
then you will slowly add in the water, while
watching how sticky or watery it becomes.
(When you suppose that it is a little too watery,
you can keep stirring or what I do is I use my
hands to mush it all up.) If it is still too watery
add more salt.When you think there is enough
salt add in a little more flour.

Step 3: Keep Mushing!!!

You need to keep mushing with flour so it does not
stick to anything.Throw from one hand to another very
quickly or shape it from a sphere to maybe a flat pizza.
All of this working will stretch out the dough making it
easier for projects.

Step 4: Storage

You should put your salt-dough clay away in
an air tight container such as a Tupperware
bowl or some Gladware. But before you put
them in the storage space you have to put
flour in the bowl so that the next time you take
it out the dough will not stick to the container.
After a few days of working(with the dough)
you will not have to use any flour.

Step 5: Additional Projects

I was reading a book with salt-dough projects
and I decided to put some in this instructable!

-FISH
Cover a flat foil oval with rolled out dough. Add
heart,oval,or triangle fins.Flatten dough balls
for eyes.Press in the center of an oval for lips.

-BUNNY
Shape three dough balls for the head,body,
and cottontail.Press them together.Attach
oval legs and ears.Use tiny dough balls for
the cheeks and nose.

-CAT+MOUSE
Cat-Press 2 balls side by side for the body and
head.Make oval legs.Add a fat rope for the tail.
Use dough balls for the cheeks and nose,and
add triangles for the ears.
Mouse-Make an oval..Add flattened dough balls
for ears.Curl a piece of plastic-coated wire into
a tail,and press it into the backside of the dough.

*Also if you are young you will need adult supervision when working with an oven*

Step 6: In the Oven

Work on a sheet of foil so you will not
have to move the project to get it in the
oven. Lay the sheet of foil on a cookie pan
so that it will not tip over in the oven.
You can use water to make the ears tails
and other body parts to stick.You can use
craft glue to attach cocktail umbrellas for a
cute effect.(If your project needs a little
help staying up,use wads of foil to prop
it up in the oven.
BAKING
Bake salt dough projects for 1 to 4 hours
at 200 degrees.
Projects should stay in the oven until hard and
dry.Larger projects will take longer than smaller
projects. Remove the pan and projects with an oven
mitt. Let cool.
