WORK WITH CLAY IS A GREAT WAY TO WALK AWAY,FROM THE WORRIES OF THE DAY! LOVE MAKING THESE LITTLE FACES.I START THE HEAD FROM A BALL OF FOIL ON THE END OF A PENCIL,ADDING CLAY AS NEEDED TO CREAT A LITTLE BABY FACE.THEN THE CLAY IS BAKED IN THE OVEN AT ABOUT 250 FOR 15 MINUTES.I BLUSH THE FACE WITH ACRYLICS AND GLUE ON HAIR. A BABY IS BORN!

I START WITH FOIL TIGHTLY WRAPPED INTO A BALL SHAPE SECURED TO THE TOP OF A PENCIL.THE CLAY IS THEN ADDED IN A THIN LAYER.EYES ARE THEN SET IN PLACE,THEY ARE ALSO MADE OF CLAY AND ALREADY CURED.

I THEN LAYER CLAY WHERE IT IS NEEDED TO CREATE NOSE,MOUTH AND CHIN AND CHEEKS.MY LAST STEPS ARE SHAPING THE BACK OF THE HEAD AND ADDING THE EARS.

THE SMOOTHING PROCESS TAKES SOME TIME.I USE A SMALL FLAT PAINT BRUSH DIPPED IN ALCOHOL,IT MELTS THE SURFACE OF THE CLAY INTO A NICE SMOOTH SCULPTURE.

THEN IT IS READY FOR BAKING AT 250 FOR AROUND FIFTEEN MINUTES.ONCE THE HEAD HAS COOLED,IT`S READY FOR BLUSHING IN ALL FACE DETAIL,CHEEKS AND LIPS.I USE ACRYLIC PAINTS,MIXING TWO PARTS RED AND ONE PART DARK BROWN TO GET NATURAL FLESH TONES.

A BABY FACE IS BORN!
