STOP Making Wall Holes While Hanging Curtains & Drapes

I don't like making holes in the wall unless it's necessary because they're such eyesores.
It's sort of tedious to patch up holes and paint over them, especially if you rent.
And who knows what color paint you used, if you ever remember.

Thankfully the 3M Command strips made it possible to prevent wall hole making.
Aside from hanging posters and hooks as suggested by 3M,
I came up with other ideas on how to hang other items such as drapes
without poking holes in the wall a couple years ago at a friend's place.

There are 3 various ways that I came up with but this instructable will be showing
the customizable way and at the end are the 2 variations.
It's just a matter of using hardware and supplies beyond what they're originally intended for.
These hanging methods are meant for medium to light curtain or drapes.

Being that this was done a while back, the photo documentation isn't as detailed
as my recent work.
But this project is very easy and straightforward anyways.
I don't work for 3M, I just like this product.
Hope to save a few walls by publishing this. :D

Step 1: Supplies

Supplies List:

Pressure Treated Beveled Post Cap (Home Depot SKU#429429) Lumber section, Decking
Wall Door Stop (Lowes) Door Hardware section
Primer
Paint or Spray paint (especially for rubber)
Super strong glue like Gorilla Glue or Liquid Nails
3M Command Strips
Spring Tension Rod
Drapes

Note: Probably can also use Rossette Blocks and Rubber cups used for the bottom of furniture
as subtitutes but haven't tried it.

Step 2: Assemble and Paint Rod Holders

Prime the post cap then glue the door stop on it.

Paint with desired color.

Apply 3M Command strips at the back. Follow 3M instructions.
Place 2 for extra strength due to the length of the curtain rod and weight of the drapes.
The instructions also come with weight restrictions.
If I was really paranoid I'd place 3 but the drapes held up and didn't fall down at all.

Despite the strips sticking out for easy removal, it wasn't so bad because the drapes covered them.

Step 3: Placing the Rod Holders Unto Wall

Followed the 3M directions and placed the holders into position.
Waited at least an hour before putting up the spring tension rod and drapes.

The spring tension rod fit perfectly into the wall door stop.
The combination of the spring in the rod and the door stop fitting probably helped stabilize
the window drapery even further.

Step 4: Two Other Variations of Hanging Curtains

Used plastic mug holders with the 3M Command Strips to hold curtain rods in the 1st example.
Removed the original mounting tape in the back and replaced it with the Command Strip
because I don't trust the original adhesive. It might strip the paint.
Could also color the mug holder with paint meant for plastic.

In the 2nd variation I used a 3M Cord Bundler to hold a curtain rod.
Thought Cord Bundler looked nice in comparison to hooks.

Now you can hang drapes without making nasty holes in the wall.
