This instructable was inspired by the Sugru contest.
I loved my new pans but hated the handles because they were too hot to touch.
I decided to try Sugru on the handles to see if it deflected the heat.  This is an addition to my original instructables.  PLEASE NOTE today is November 2nd and it was yesterday that my husband and I noticed that the handle to the pan is a little hotter than it has been.  So we are not sure if the Sugru needed more time to set up before the true test could be done.  If I was to re-make this I would make the Sugru cover re-movable by making it larger than the handle.  I would also make sure it covered the entire handle.  I don't have any Sugru to re-test it but I think it would work.  I was really disappointed that my test thought to be good actually failed after many days.  I did not want to lead anyone astray so I am writing this now.  I can't delete this because it was entered in a contest.

I was searching instructables and came across a discussion about Sugru.
I read that I could receive some Sugru free and then I noticed instructables ran out,  but the FormFormForm Limited  company  offered Sugru to the first 200 people that emailed them.

I guess I made it,  because I received it in the mail.
When I received my package it came from the UK.  Royal mail!
I had never received mail through US customs before.

Jane invented it.
Jane also signed the note that came with it.
Here are the pictures of the packaging.
I think they did an awesome job on the design of the package!

I emailed the company,  and I promised that I would make an instructable,  if I received the Sugru.
Here it is almost the deadline and I could not dream up anything that I thought was as worthy as some of these entries UNTIL tonight!
I decided to put Sugru to the heat test!

I also wanted to share as much information about the product that I could,  because so many people were asking about what it was and where to get it.
I tried to take some good pictures but because of the silver packaging it made it difficult to get a good shot.

I read where it can be washed in the dishwasher but it is not food safe.
It holds up to heat and cold.
Sugru's website is:  http://sugru.com/.  for more information.

Very nice! I'm surprised that it could take the heat... good job!

I checked out the website and it is only mentioned as working to 180c. As it would insulate the handle it might get hotter than it would if it could cool by convection. I would be reluctant to use this on anything other than a stock pot or similar. At least on pots I cared about.

How much does a package make, anyhow? Love this idea :)

I wonder if you could make one that slides on and off and could be used with a variety of pots in the kitchen. I would like to make one that services all my set of pots and pans.

Thank you for this info. I guess I will stick with the old school type potholder right now.

Nice usage, but what's your obsession with it being via "Royal mail"? ;-)

Nice idea, those handles can get quite hot.
