These sticks are awesome. They can be made longer or as shown, can be with white sesame seeds, black sesame seeds, fennel seeds, cumin seeds, grated cheese, or anything you can think of !
Step 1: Ingredients and Method
500 g AP flour
500 g cottage cheese
250 g vegetable shortening (you can use lard if you wish)
1 envelope/pouch of baking powder (depending on the brand, Dr. Oetker usually 12 gram while others are 15 gram, either is fine)
1 tsp of salt
3-4 tbsp sour cream
For topping, you will need:
sesame seeds, fennel, etc
Cut shortening into flour until crumbly texture, add in the rest of the ingredients, knead. Divide dough into 2 portions, roll flat each, brush with beaten egg, and slice with knife (if you have cookie cutter as shown on the picture, by all mean, use it as it is easier, but it gives shorter sticks). Sprinkle with any toppings of your choice, I used white sesame seeds this time. Bake at preheated 200 C (395 F) for 20-25 minutes (until golden).
Step 2: Enjoy~
Keep in airtight container or cookie jars and could last for the whole week or so (if you can control yourself!) :)
