Heyo everybody!

In this DIY I'll be telling you step by step how to make this scratch-off paper (if that is what it is called). I found the recipe for this online and I decided to try it out myself. It worked surprisingly well! I had a lot of fun making this and it was really easy too!

I hoop this DIY will be easy to follow and just as much fun for you as it was for me!

Step 1: Materials

You'll need the following things for this project:

Paper. This can be lose paper or a sketch/note book. I chose the book, since I wanted to use it as a sketchbook later.
Crayons. They have to be wax based so make sure that they are.
A glue stick.
Soap. You will be able to smell the soap afterwards so pick a smell you like!
Acrylic paint. I used black, but I'm sure you could use another color too. Keep in mind that it will give a different result, since the black color will bring out the colors from the crayons better. But i'm sure that there are a lot of other colors that will work too!
A paint brush.
Something you can mix the paint and soap on/in.

Step 2: Let's Get Started!

The first thing I had to do was to glue a couple of pages together. This was because of the fact that 1 page would start to crinkle if I would apply paint to it. The page that you'll need to create has to prevent this from happening and this makes it that you'll have to make it thick enough so that it won't.

The amount of pages you'll have to glue together will depend on what type of paper you used. If you chose thin paper you'll have to glue a lot of them together. I had chosen a thicker type and because of that I only had to glue 3 together. Some types of paper don't require you to glue at all and you can get right to coloring!

Glue as much pages together as you think you'll need to get a good result. Make sure to align them well. If you are doing this with lose paper, do the same thing, but be sure to align them correctly! If you chose a book, this will be much easier to do.

Step 3: Coloring Your Page

When the glue has dried you can go to the next step. Coloring!

Take your crayons and start to color in your page. You can do this with 1 or more colors, it's up to you. I wanted to created a rainbow type of scratch-off paper, so used a lot of different ones. Be sure to pick bright colors, otherwise they might not stand out as much as you'd like.

You can color your page in different ways. You could use triangles, stripes or other idea's that you have. I drew circles, because I thought that these would give the result that I wanted. You can use different shapes and sizes depending on which result you would like to get.

Step 4: Painting

The next thing you'll have to do is paint over the drawing you just made. Make sure that you have a bowl or a plate with an edge to mix on. The soap will make the paint a lot more watery.

For the mixture of the paint and soap you'll have to put in an equal amount of each one. Mix them up with the paint brush and make sure that all of the soap is well mixed. After this you can start painting!

Once you've covered the whole page, let it dry before applying a second layer. This is because 1 layer is still transparent. In the end I had to apply 4 layers of paint to get a good result. Luckily for me, the paint that I used dried really fast. Due to that I was able to finish painting in 1 hour. You'll need to find out for yourself how many layers you need to apply until you can't see any crayon anymore.

Step 5: Extra Step, Just Sketch Something

After the paint dried you can grab a pencil and sketch a design onto it. Don't put too much pressure on it though, since you'll start scratching of the paint layer.

Step 6: Scratch, Scratch, Scratch

And you can start scratching! You can do this with any sharp object you have laying around, but try not to destroy the paper while you are scratching, since this can still happen.

If you are not happy with your design or if your are sick of it and you want something else, you can just paint over your old design! It will not 100% get rid of the old one, but it will cover it up and you can use it again afterwards. I'm not sure how many times this will work but I've done it a few times.
