Instructables
I saw the forum post about the secret stashes. It inspired me to make my own. My favorite was the map that slid money out. I messed around a little and soon came up with my own version. This can be modified for any poster.

Here's a video of it in action.

Step 1: Materials

Picture of Materials
For this you will need:

Scissors
Tape
X-acto Knife
Cardstock

Poster
Something that doesn't look out of place on the poster (I used a trading card)

Step 2:

Picture of
Cut cardstock in half. It doesn't have to be perfect, but close enough. Cut one half in half again and set the other aside.

Step 3: Cut Poster

Picture of Cut Poster
Make a slot in the poster wide enough to slip one of the quarter pieces inside. Try to be neat.

Step 4: Add Back Guard

This piece wil make sure your money/whatever-secret-item-you-want comes out.

Tape one of the quarter pieces over the slit on the back. Only tape one side for now.

Step 6: Cut

Picture of Cut
Take the side of the half sheet that is not taped and cut it in thirds. Once again, it doesn't half to be exact, just fairly neat.

Step 7: Tape Again

This step is a little tricky. You need to tape the bottom half of the poster to the quarter sheet that acts as the guard.

This ensures that your item comes out smoothly.

Step 8: Wrap it Up...

Insert the quarter sheet taped to the half sheet into the slot. make sure it can come out smoothly. Then retract it so that you cannot see it from the front.

Make a slit about an inch from the bottom of the cardstock, but make it so that only the middle third can be in it.

Once you have done that, Put the middle third into the slit. It needs to stick out about an inch.

Step 9: Tape, for the Last Time

Tape both of the remaining thirds to the poster. This ensures the slip pops back into place when you are doneusing it.

if its not flat, you can use another stash. like in a book or something.
but the problem with books is that it takes a verry long time to cut it and what not..trust me i know ive tryed it its verry hard to do it, i used a old eragon book.....

i've made two. you just have to have patience, young grasshopper.
I've made a book stash, and I also agree. The time and effort is worth it.

You should make a video of the poster in action.

thanks for the advice.
Ah, cool. For a better effect, upload the video to youtube and embed it into the intro.
schoonovermr (author)  fungus amungus4 years ago
how do you do that?
Embed the video? When you're editing the step you there should be a little filmstrip icon above the text area. Click that and paste in the embed code that you get form youtube.
Without scouring it too much, is this outdated since the text editor upgrades?
Yes it is.
