Semi-auto K'NEX gun

This gun is an 8 shot semi-auto rubber band gun with a twist, its made entirely from K'NEX!!! When you think about it its a very simple mechinism, i came across it while i was trying to slow down the fire rate of a fully auto gun (the fully auto gun was more like a shotgun becuase of the high fire rate and small magazine).

stuff you'll need:

1) alot of K'NEX
2) a computer (to view this page)
3) hands (to put it together)

Step 1: Make the body of the gun

Well pretty straight foward, assemble the pieces the way they are in the picture. This part holds the firing mechinism in place.

i only had small elastic bands so i put the elastic band through the hole of the yellow connector on the recoil thingy this works so well and it fires single shot

Hey. Great gun! This was the first gun I ever made. I generally have more fun with it by putting 2 bands in each white notch and then pulling back the recoil thingy to make it work like a rubberband shotgun. :) I also do this because it doesn't always fire correctly when using the trigger...

if you load it and oull the recoil part instead of the trigger it works very well as a shot gun

Absolutely. Without it, the recoil falls and the trigger wheel spins freely. In other words, it won't hold the ammunition, and it no longer works as a trigger.

o ya triple screen is freakin hard to configurate i have a 4 screen setup i took the screens out of flatscreen monitors and mounted them on a board then wired them (they are all the same) so that its like having one big screen

Withe the dual monitors. You relay should get two LCD's instead of a LCD and a CRT.

you can also make the trigger an other way for easyer loading end you can fire heavier bands 
1 take the trigger out
2 place a little green knex piece on the biger green piece
3 place it turned over
4 your already ready
whit this adjustment you can load by just putting bands on the holder without using the trigger

Im a proud owner of one of these babies. On mine I added red sticks itstead of yellow for the barrel to get more kick out of the rubber bands. The only issue is you burn through alot of rubber bands because they stretch and dont shoot far anymore. You have to replace the trigger bands really often to. But other wise cool gun.

This is a brilliant Rubber Band gun. I have made 2 of these but improved it a little. At the front of the barrel, heighten and lengthen those pieces. it makes it fire better.

no the triggers in the right place, the wheel looking thing is the trigger. the other part is like a recoil locking mech or something, it basically only allow one rubber band to fire at a time

it all depend on the rubber bands you use, besides its a rubber band gun. its something you mess around with when your waiting for something to download or shoot the tv with when its a crappy show. its not meant to have much power, since i have built this i have moved onto much bigger things. like right now i have a rifle capable of shooting a ball point pen over 800 fps sitting next to me. its in a early prototype stage, and it doesn't look nice, but it still has a hell of alot of power

whats pretty cool about this gun (and all other guns using this firing method) is that if you hold down the trigger blocker thing (or whatever you call the thing on the back of the grip [im not gun savvy]), all the rubber bands will shoot out in quick succesion. thats pretty cool

I think that the design is fine, but you should really consider posting each picture's specific number of each type of part. Can get frustrating at certain spots, especially when the camera view is bad. Since I built the "K'Nex Pistol" before I made this one, I was sort of disappointed. However its still pretty cool.

When I made this the elastics would shoot downwards or not at all and I couldn't get more than 2 or 3 elastics on, because you can't turn it to reach the other pegs without shooting them.

if there shooting downward then there getting caught on something, it might have something to do with the way you load them. if you load back ward hen a rubber band further back on the wheel part will be on top of the one about to fire, this would cause it to shoot badly. to load it your suppose to put a rubber band on the wheel, then the wheel rotate backwards so the next rubber band can be put on another rubber band

then the elastic must not be strong enough, that or you built it wrong i have a working version of the gun sitting next to me as im typing. theres been at least a hundred people who have made this gun successfully, maybe you just have to look over the steps again. but im going to bet its the rubber bands your using, you can adjust the four yellow rods that hold the front on to accept different rubber bands. try the Grey rods it will put more tension on the rubber band

it might have something to do with the silencer you added, or you could have the tension of the rubber bands wrong. if the recoil rubber band is really strong and the rubber bands your firing are weak then it will be hard to pull the trigger

this was a great great gun

i made it without a stock, then made my own stock and a silencer were you are meant to shoot (and now shoot from the yellow connecters above that)

a scope made from red rods and white connectors (same as silencer)
and a bipid for it to sit on,

it is probably the best sniper looking gun ever made out of knex

Dude your guns awesome but I always got fustrated when i had a couple of rubberbands on and then i pulled that trigger more than one rubberband came off not to mention hurting my index finger. So to prevent that i took rubberband stretched(Start to put rubberband on form end of barrel or it'll mess up shooting bands) from where the stock connects to the gun to one of the trigger pegs. This help so much to stop from misfires by having a constant force to pullup. Also i put a bipod at the fron of your gun, makes it look way way cooler like a B.A.R.

you have to hold the wheel when you reload or the gun will automatically start to shoot. first you have to push down the recoil device, spin it back one, put a rubber band on, turn it back again with the recoil device still held down and put on another rubber band, and so on until you've put as many as you want on, at which point you let go of th recoil device, then the wheel and your ready to fire.

i had a box of ruber bands around but i had to exchange the yelow bits from th barrel to white bits untill i was sure it wasnt going to snap on me when i loaded it :(
