Introduction: Share a Little Love Cake

About: Hi! I'm a twenty-something journalism student from the Netherlands. This is how I roll. I love cooking, technology, beauty, fashion and I have a healthy obsession with shiny and cute things.

There are quite a few ways to win someone's heart, but nothing beats a good cake. I wanted to make one for my boyfriend. He got me a blueberry plant, so I decided it should be stuffed with blueberries! It's a simple and sweet recipe. Everyone can make this! Oh, and it's tiny, which is cute!

Step 1: Ingredients

Cake batter
2 Eggs
50g/1,75oz Flour
50g/1,75oz Sugar

Blueberry jelly
125g/4,4oz Blueberries
400ml Water
1 tbs Sugar
1 tbs Vanilla sugar
1 tbs Cornstarch
300g/10,6oz Jelly sugar(forgot to put it in the overview picture. So, an extra pic!)

Butter cream and decoration
70g/2,5oz Unsalted dairy butter
100g/3,5oz Powdered sugar
1 tbs Water
Fondant in whatever colors you like. I used white and red

Everything else you need
12cm/4,7inch Springform
Mixing bowls
Mixer
Pan
Oven
Spoons and knives

Step 2: Cake Batter

It's really easy. Separate the eggs and put the whites in a mixing bowl and the yolks in another bowl. Whip the whites with half of the sugar until you can turn the bowl around and it won't fall out. Remember, you can't whip 'em if your bowls and mixer are greasy! Mix the other half of sugar with the yolks. Now slowly add the whipped whites to the yolks. Be very careful, because you don't want to lose any fluffy! Next you slowly add the flour. Just as careful! Mix it well and pour it in the cake form! Bake in a preheated oven at about 150 degrees C(300 degrees F) for about 20-25 minutes and then let it cool.

Step 3: Blueberry Jelly

And now for my favorite step: making the blueberry jelly. It's really easy and the result is soooo good. Take a pan and put 200ml of water, a tbs of sugar, a tbs of vanilla sugar and the blueberries in there. Put it on a fire and as soon as it starts boiling, add another 200ml of water to it. Nex you stir the cornstarch in there and let it boil for a minute. Now you can add the jelly sugar and let that boil for a few minutes. Now let it cool and you'll have a delicious blueberry jelly. Warning: it's just too good!

Step 4: Putting the Cake Together

Let's make a little bit of butter cream for the little cake first. Whip the butter and powderded sugar together. Add a tbs of water to the mixture. Cut the cake in three pieces. Smear some jelly on the bottompiece and put the middle piece on top of that. Add another layer of jelly and put the top piece on. Cover the entire cake in butter cream. It looks a little icky now, but we're going to cover that up with the fondant! Cover the surface of your counter with a little bt of powdered sugar. Roll out the fondant with a rolling pin. Make sure the piece of fondant can cover the entire surface of the cake! Stick it on the cake and mould it around the surface. Cut away the excess and tuck it in a little at the bottom. For the little heart on top, repeat the the process with another color of fondat. Only now, you cut out a little heart and stick it on top. Voila, it's done! Very cute and your love will love it.
