Introduction: Shell Heart Home Decor

This framed decoration is a great accent in any room. It's easy to make, and definitely pleasant to look at.

Step 1: Materials

You will need:

•a picture frame
•seashells
•hot glue gun

Optional:
•spray paint
•paint
•thin cardboard

The picture frame must be large enough to accommodate the seashells. The frame I used was just laying around unused in my home for awhile. Also, for the seashells, the picture shows which seashells are best for this project. If the seashell is cone shaped or heavy, it won't stay on well with the glue. I got my seashells for $6 at Marshalls. The spray paint is for spray painting the frame if you don't like the original color. I felt that a gold frame would stand out against the black background, plus since my home's color theme is gold, it matches nicely. If you like your frame and are content with the color, spray paint isn't needed. My picture frame had a piece of black cardboard as the backing, if yours didn't, you would need the cardboard and paint.

Step 2: Remove Glass

The first step is to remove the glass and whatever picture was inside. Because the seashells are three dimensional, it'd stick out too much for the glass to fit. My picture frame did not have a stand on the back, instead, it was just a piece of black cardboard. If your picture frame doesn't have something like that, use the cardboard and paint it whatever color you desire. Once you're done, put the cardboard back into the frame.

Step 3: Arrange and Glue

Gather up your seashells and lay them out in the desired pattern or shape. I chose a heart as the shape I want. Once you are satisfied with your design, use the hot glue gun to glue the seashells down. If there's any leftover stringy glue webbed onto the seashells, peel them off.

Step 4: Optional: Spray Paint the Frame

If you'd like, you can spray paint the frame any color of your choosing. Clean the frame with acetone first to make the spray paint stick on better.

Step 5: Hang It!
