Introduction: ShopVac Rolling Office Chair

Look, we all have this problem: not enough damn space if your workshop. I have the solution here for your consumption. I realized my workshop chair could not roll, which was annoying. Additionally, my shopvac was always in the middle of the space, and would often impede my movement. Conclusion? Shopvac Chair! Why not have a vacuum always handy under your @$$ right where you need?

Step 1: Mount

Simple as that, take your shopvac, take your chair, and you've halfed the floorspace required while giving you rolling functionality and vacuum at your ready. How to do this?

Take a durable ShopVac. Mine is quite large. To mount it, you have two options.

Option One: straps

A fumble jumble of straps and rope did it for me, but isn't quite a pretty. Less work too.

Option Two: wooden mount

Not too hard, but a mount to disperse the pressure from the top of the shopvac to the entire lid. Make sure to leave space to access the on/off switch

Step 2: Amenities

The functionality of this chair that makes it superior is the proximity to a vacuum. I mounted clips to hold the vacuum hose and tube right to my armrest, so I didn't have to fumble around to be able to clean my work bench. Reaching the on/off switch is a bit challenging, but a stretch under the seat between the legs does the trick.

Misc:

Keep it plugged in! No need to go plug it to use it. Turn it on right fro your comfortable position sitting down.

I'd recommend placing a cupholder somewhere here.

Racing stripes and flame decal make it go faster. Or vacuum better. Or sit better.Sit

and Vacuum

In all seriousness, I likely will be refining this so it's super functional. I don't have enough space and this a good solution until I deal with the issues of why I don't have enough space (garage junk). It's handy, fun, and unique with enough absurdity to bring a laugh to anyone's face, and then a “huh, that's not actually a bad idea”.

might be easier and safer to raise the work surfaces to standing height. Of course, I may just weigh too much. ;)

Might be an idea to beef up the wheels . Mine is 3 wheeled already after a week
