Learn how to shrink a mold to reduce the size of an already existing original. Through a simple mold making technique you can shrink a mold by nearly 25 percent without re sculpting a smaller original.
Cool. I always wondered if you could make a shrinking mold - like shrinky dinks but 3 dimensional. interesting technique!
You can even swell a silicone mold by submersing it in odorless mineral spirits. It does have it's limitations as to how much it can be done though. Usually 15-20% max. Thanks for watching!
does it only work with Alumilite, or will this work with other brands like Oomoo, etc?
Unfortunately I cannot speak to how it would work in other silicone systems.
If you're interested in a cheaper version, one part silicone caulk (~$3 a tube at most hardware stores), one part corn starch, and two parts mineral spirits, mixed thoroughly, will achieve similar results
There's also some shrinking and even expanding polymers with which you can achieve a much larger size change:

HydroSpan 400 Shrinking Resin - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9YFjtKqv3QE
HydroSpan 100 Enlarging Polymer - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uDry-goiVTY

Very cool stuff!
