Recently I had some remains of fluoresescent tape lying around so I wondered for what I could use it. The result is pretty impressive. I invented a simple kind of reusable slide which can save a picture for a few hours. But you can also use it for short-term memos in more or less darker rooms.

Letztens hatte ich einige Reste von fluoreszierendem Klebeband herumliegen, also überlegte ich, für was ich es nutzen könnte. Das Ergebnis war relativ beeindruckend. I habe eine simple Art von wiederverwendbarem Dia erfunden, welches ein Bild für einige Stunden speichern kann. Aber man kann es außerdem als kurzzeitiges Memo in einigermaßen dunklen Räumen nutzen.

Step 1: Part List

You will need:

- fluorescent tape

- a board (wood, metal, plastic...)

- cardboard (bigger than the board)

- tape

- adhesive transparent foil (optional)

- a single LED flashlight for writing on the fluorescent tape

Man braucht:

- fluoreszierendes Klebeband

- ein Brett (Holz, Metall, Plastik,...)

- Karton (größer als das Brett)

- Klebeband

- selbstklebende transparente Folie (optional)

- eine einfach-LED Taschenlampe um auf das fluoreszierende Klebeband zu schreiben

Step 2: Prepare the Fluorescent Tape

First cut the fluorescent tape into pieces in length of your board. Make as many of them as you need to cover the whole width of the board.

Als Erstes schneide das fluoreszierende Klebeband in Stücke mit der gleichen Länge wie das Brett. Mache so viele, wie du brauchst, um die gesamte Breite des Bretts auszufüllen.

Step 3: Stick It to the Board

Next stick the stripes next to each other on the board. When you finished you can clean the surface with rubbing alcohol.

Als Nächstes klebe die Streifen dicht aneinander auf das Brett. Wenn du fertig bist, kannst du die Oberfläche mit Reinigungsalkohol sauber machen.

Step 4: Foil for Protection (optional)

This step is optional and only necessary if you want to protect the tape from seperating from the board.

You cut out a piece of foil larger than the board and stick it without bubbles on the surface. Then turn the foil down and attach it with extra tape.

Dieser Schritt ist optional und nur notwendig, wenn man verhindern möchte, dass das Klebeband sich vom Brett löst.

Man schneidet ein Stück Folie größer als das Brett aus und klebt es ohne Luftbläschen auf die Fläche. Dann klappt man die Folie um und befestigt sie mit extra Klebeband.

Step 5: Cut the Cardboard

When you want to save a picture you have to make sure that no more light can get on the fluorescent layer. For this I recommend to cut out a piece of cardboard which is 2 cm (~1 inch) larger on three sides than the board. Next you tape the fourth side to the board, from inside and outside. Check the pictures for more information. The cardboard should be versatile.

The Simple Fluorescent Board is now finished.

Wenn man ein Bild speichern will, muss man sicherstellen, dass kein Licht mehr auf die fluoreszierende Schicht kommt. Dazu empfehle ich, ein Stück Karton auszuschneiden, das auf drei Seiten 2 cm größer ist als das Brett. Nun klebt man die vierte Seite mit Klebeband an das Brett, von innen und von außen. Der Karton sollte beweglich sein.

Das Einfache Fluoreszierende Brett ist jetzt fertig.

Step 6: Drawing/Writing With the Flashlight

Writing something on the fluorescent board is very easy. Move the flashlight over the fluorescent layer, while turning it on and off to create letters, numbers, drawings, etc. In the dark you will see where the light charged the layer.

Unfortunately I have no laser pointer at home but I think it is possible to use it with the fluorescent board. If you have built this instructable and tried to use a laser pointer instead of a flashlight, please let us know in the comments if it works.

Etwas auf das fluoreszierende Brett zu schreiben ist sehr einfach. Schalte die Taschenlampe an und aus und bewege sie gleichzeitig über die fluoreszierende Schicht. Man sieht im Dunkeln, wo das Licht die Schicht geladen hat.

Leider habe ich keinen Laserpointer zu Hause, aber ich glaube, dass es möglich ist, einen Laserpointer mit dem fluoreszierendem Brett zu benutzen. Falls du diese Instructable nachgebaut hast und probiert hast, einen Laspointer anstatt einer Taschenlampe zu benutzen, bitte, lass uns in den Kommentaren wissen, ob es funktioniert.

Step 7: First Tests With a Mobile Phone

Another way to charge the fluorescent is to put a mobile phone or a tablet onto it. Make sure the screen lock is on at least 5 minutes and the brightness is high.

Ein anderer Weg, die fluoreszierende Substanz zu laden, ist, ein Smartphone oder ein Tablet darauf zu legen. Stelle sicher, dass die Bildschirmsperre auf mindestens 5 Minuten eingestellt ist und die Helligkeit auf hoch gesetzt wurde.

Step 8: Charging the Fluorescent Board With a Display

You get even better results with a computer screen. I tried to copy whole pictures and in most cases friends could identify what is shown.

Noch bessere Ergebnisse bekommt man mit einem Computermonitor. Ich habe versucht ein paar ganze Bilder zu kopieren und in den meisten Fällen konnte man sogar erkennen, was abgebildet wurde.

Step 9: Photo Flash

The last method I found was the photo flash of a camera. Simply take one or more pictures in the dark and if the photo flash is strong enough you can see the shadow of e.g. your hand.

Die letzte Methode ist das Blitzlicht einer Kamera. Man muss einfach nur ein paar Bilder im Dunkeln schießen und wenn der Blitz hell genug ist, dann sieht man z. B. den Schatten einer Hand.
