Cut Slot
First, cut a slot in the tape roll big enough for your phone, but small enough so the roll pinches each side of the phone.

I'd have to say "no". The touch screen on the iPhone differs from that of the DS, car panel, etc.. the iPhone screen goes off of conductivity between each part of it. I don't completely understand it myself. but, since the plastic has no conductivity, no. It would not affect the screen's touch input. However, it would get in the way. REALLY bad.
